Web-dls are normally direct stream downloads from various sites renting movies/shows. I don't think any of those would offer 100 GB files, those are probably just bloated captures too.

Some that I remember are MIB (120GB) and Ghostbusters (140GB), and few others...
I guess if it is feasible, with a proper PC, capture with a lossless codec, and then re-encode with proper bitrate - I mean, if the original web file is, let's say 40/50GB, I don't see the point to save it as 120/140GB... am I wrong?

Those are from one of the Sony 4K streamers that has been hacked.

So, they are indeed really 100+GB files? WOW!!!

I can't speak to those particular files but the initial Sony caps are from the steamer. I'll try to find the article. Most of the ones I have seen are a mix of 265 and 264 with a lot being re encodes. Most of the rest are a mix of caps from streamers and uhd BDs. Once someone learned how to cap Netflix 4K it was all over.

Here is an example with Ghostbusters (1984) http://screenshotcomparison.com/comparis...?id=176434
Funny fact: Ghostbusters (2016) was shot at 2.8K then mastered in 2K but they actually released a 4K BD.

I found a "Rogue One" 2160p 10bit 4:2:2 "VisionplusHDR-1000" HEVC... at 40mbps, it's quite good; it seems legit, according to Mediainfo - or, at least, very well made; but I can't understand which could be the source...

Before UHD Blu Ray was available Sony sold a media server to which UHD content could be downloaded. That is probably the source of the web-dl files.

I do believe that the UHD Blu Ray is backwards compatible with a Blu Ray player. You won't get the 4k but you'll at least get the 1080p and it "might" look a bit nicer than the average Blu.

Generally they include a blu ray which usually houses any special features. As I understand it to get UHD with WCG and HDR you need a compatible player and display with the appropriate HDMI standard (2.0?), any less and the player will downconvert to 1080p 4:2:0 8bit colour. I believe there are certain aftermarket gadgets and adapters that can help though.
