Although very few displays can achieve the full rec2020 gamut (90% is the minimum requirement). Also AFAIK there is still no way of calibrating UHD displays. Strange huh

It's the 10bit 4:2:2 that offers the color benefit over the HDR.

HDR is 10bit 4:2:2, but 10bit 4:2:2 can be also non-HDR.

Very strange! I've decided not to buy a new TV until my current one goes wrong. By then, I hope that the dust will have settled a bit.

So: all HDR are at least 10bit 4:2:2, but not all 10bit 4:2:2 videos are HDR.

Unfortunately UHD whether 10 or 12 bit is only 4:2:0.

It's the Dolby Vision 'super dazzling' style of HDR that puts me off a little. I don't need to be blinded by a sunset or the gleam of a knife edge thank you. Especially when you consider that Digital Cinema is specified at 14 foot lamberts screen brightness.

Yep still locked into 4:2:0. HDR is just cheap way of adding to that colorspace.

To me the great advantage of DV over say HDR10 is that it's a smart two way system opposed to HDR10's "dumb" one way system. Any DV TV has a chip that informs other sources as to what the capabilities of the TV are, therefore tailor the HDR for the specific TV. HDR10 just sends the raw info and if your TV in a sort of fire-and-forget system.
