An idea: if IMAX and BD shots could be regraded to be equal, color wise, it would be great to use the auto-align script to slap the BD over the IMAX, to get more resolution in the central part of the image, and some horizontal part more; the, for the "purists", a YAO hack would cover the exceeding horizontal part with black borders.

Sounds like a really interesting idea, spoRv. Would LOVE to see something like this. It'd be a nice little release for the 10th anniversary too.

Sounds cool. That's as close to an official 1.43:1 to 2.40:1 home version we're ever going to get.

Papai, reading now on myspleen, comments you wrote in reply to your own torrent; so, are there HD clips of IMAX shots (1.44:1) of TDK and TDKR in a special edition trilogy on BD, right? If so, it would be possible to use them as main source, and upscaled DVD + BD auto.overlay'ed eventually for shots not present there; it this way, there could be possible to get the best possible quality for IMAX shots.

spoRv you silly man. Why not use the UHD? It has all IMAX shots as 16:9. Overlay those with the DVD?

Because the IMAX shots at 16:9 = 1.78:1 are cropped, and the ones on BD *should be* at 1.44, hence original?!? I'm an old dinosaur, with a small brain, but, as I'm a carnivore, not that silly!

B-but if the BD ones are 1.44, why overlay them with the DVD in the first place? (*Brain, help me out here*)

IF not all IMAX shots (from the SE trilogy) are available in 1.44:1, for the missing ones best option would be to overlay the 1.78:1 from normal BD (or UHD-BD) to the 1.33:1 from DVD. Got the point?

Yes, sir, that's how I originally understood it!
