Seems as if I got that mentioned german DVD with the english audio master as base.. it is cropped to the sides.. so it is not the original widescreen aspect ratio. Sad
Quality seems to be .. uhm... let's say.. the DVD lacks of it. Smile

Running time of the movie track: 1h 49m 05s, but it starts with the trailer. The First Movie Credits start at 3:14
English Title and Cast Text.

But it has the mentioned two guns jump and stomach slide by Chow Yun Fat.

is it cropped or Open Matte?
Had no idea there was a version of this 'International Cut' available on DVD. Used to drive me mad when watching the HKL DVD and those shots we're missing.

Cropped.

There is also a even longer Version as bonus disc in a french release.
But it is not the complete taiwan cut, but longer than the "International" Cut.

The "long" Version has a running time of about 124 minutes.
Maybe the "international" cut scenes are there, also...

The french disc is the full uncut. There's some bootleg longer cuts but they are video made adding some deleted scenes in. I got this confirmed by the editor of the film himself back in the 90's.

That's great news!  Smile

This guy really likes sound of napalm bombs.   Big Grin

The warning on the back cover of the disc is true: the sound is so dynamic and at times so rich that one time I was listening to it a little too loud and I blew a speaker when they dropped the napalm!

Are you talking about the 2 disc french 'The Killer'?
From my understanding Disc 1 is the HK Theatrical Cut, and Disc 2 a telecine of Christophe Gans private 35mm theatrical release print of the Taiwanese cut.
Are you saying Disc 1 is the 'International cut' we're talking about above? (I need to dig it out!) or are you referring to the Taiwanese cut?

If its the taiwanese cut, is this what the editor says is the full uncut version (but an additional scene added to it by fans)?
I had a VCD back in the day with all the scenes (Including the additional) before the french disc existed, and always thought this was the source for the Deleted Scenes on the Laserdisc and DVD. If it's fanmade it makes it one of the earliest instance of a Fan Edit i know of (I picked the VCD 1997 time)

EDIT: The other was a Django movie that was put together in Japan from numorus sources to create the fullest cut possible. I did'nt own it but saw it featured on a doc in the 90's

Sorry if Ive derailed the thread alittle.

I was talking the disc 2 cut. It's sourced from a canadian print.
Taiwan people often added stuff (or asked additional scenes to add) and often their cuts were bootleged on vhs before the film was even released.
The editor said that the disc 2 of the HK is the cut he made, before cutting out stuff for the international version. His preference went to the disc 2 cut.
I myself saw The Killer on bootleg VHS in that disc 2 cut for about a year until it came out on LD and VHS.
When I saw the movie was cut, I was bummed, so used I was to the longer cut.
Those were crazy times. I had the long version of ABT3 on VHS for I think 3 months before the movie was released.
I also saw about 4 or 5 different cuts of ABT3 after that, always on VHS boots.
When I saw in a theater ABT3 TC in early 1990 and saw that it was cut down I was furious again!

There's also a crazy short version of ABT2 which omits the slow music & dance moments and drama from the first act, and get straight to the action, and also cut down on all Dean Shek badly acted moments. It's much better and more akin to the first film. Alas it's lost in time, though I may be able to re-edit it from memory as I had the tape for years.

That's really interesting! Wonder when/how that version eventuated.

This sort of thing is what I've missed out on, growing up in the 1990s but not really buying any of these films until I started making my own money. So it felt like there was only 'one' cut available for a lot of these films.
