One question:
is the blray in the package the old one or a new one?
(i don't have a 4K system)

According to Ilovewaterslides, it's from the new remastered Blu-ray, not the UHD after a HDR to SDR conversion. Yes, the UHD package includes a new remastered in 4K 1080p Blu-ray. I don't know where he found those screenshots.

For example the interrogation scene and the dojo scene. I prefer the workprint, although the quality sucks. When the UHD is out, I might try regrading it to the workprint. It seems it's already close in some places, but a bit off in others.

The 35mm is not a good reference, for sure. It doesn't match the 35mm showing I attended last year. The 1st Blu-ray was a better match, only too green here and there. I did not include them as "reference", just from completion purposes and 'cause Sporv asked for them.

It seems we have now a better chance to finally have the proper One.

By all accounts the included blu ray is new and based on the 4K master.

I'm in the same boat as you, don't have UHD and cannot see myself upgrading any time soon.

A quote from the press release within the blu-ray.com review:

"DP Bill Pope has taken advantage of this to create a version with color timing as it was originally intended, crafting a high resolution digital master that is more accurate than the original theatrical release."

Yeah, he probably went a step further with the HDR for more nuances. But from what I'm seeing as of right now with the SDR 1080p screenshots, honestly, this mostly looks like the 35mm print I saw last year. I'm not too sure about the rooftop scene with the "dodge this" shot, but the rest rings a bell: the interrogation scene with the greenish grey back wall, the torture scene with Smith over Morpheus' shoulder, the choose-a-pill scene, the ending corridor scene; all these look similar to the previous Blu-ray, except cutting back on the green cast, and suddenly, the skintones are no longer greenish, neither are the shadows which is how I saw it in 35mm. The original Blu-ray was not too far from being a good match but was exaggeratedly green; it seems it no longer is, so we might have a reason to be happy with this one.

I think Beber is right. According to the old CAMrip I have, this new remaster seems to match the theatrical presentation quite well.

AKA thxita on OriginalTrilogy
I preserve movies as they first appeared in Italy.

The 35mm 2.0 was a total botch job, the 1.0 was also wrong, but it looked way better even with the twisted colors. They totally murdered the colors with the 2.0. The new Blu-ray 4K looks awesome!
