I believe IMAX with Laser is the way to go when it comes to 3D.

The Last Jedi :

Went to my second viewing last night in a scope theater with Atmos. Liked it a lot more than the 1st time when I had many issues with it, but whatever, that's not our point here. I read the credits : only mention of IMAX I found was in the "thanks" section, probably 'cause IMAX is a partner in the distribution, but as for the tech specs, all I could find was Panavision, Arri and Kodak 35mm. And as it happens, since the release, IMDB has changed its mentions in the AR section (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2527336/technical) and now states it as a 2.39:1 movie only. Though it still mentions some IMAX stuff in cinematographic process and printed film format.

Has anybody here seen it in an IMAX theater anywhere in the world that can testify having seen some switching aspect ratio?

I thought I recalled seeing a promo shot on social media which showed an IMAX camera perched on the island. I could be mistaken though. Haven't seen it in IMAX myself... I'd like to see it in IMAX, but am also curious to check out the Atmos mix.

Well, I also found an article that stated Rian Johnson used IMAX cameras and yet there's nothing IMAX in it. Unless he then cropped his shots to 2.39:1, but what would be the use of that? I've now seen it 3 times, the third time yesterday in an IMAX Laser in 3D at Disneyland Paris, and still 2.39:1 all the way. Apparently, The Force Awakens is the true rogue one on that matter.

Maybe he loves the quality of IMAX Cameras... I don't think they just stand out because of their aspect ratio, but because of the quality in general...
If I understand correctly they are much bulkier and complicated to use, but they have outstanding quality results.
Maybe (I could not find any informations regarding that) IMAX uses bigger sensors, compared to "normal" cinematic cameras. Also it is possible that they have better lenses, and such.

Sure, that could be it. Qualitiwise, the result looks great. But still, when you read the credits, it seems he didn't even use IMAX cameras.

Evil Dead (2013) - I skipped this at the time, just to find it out lately, in the unrated version, so I can't resist... watched with no great expectations, waiting for the usual bad remake, but I was pleasingly surprised to find out a good product. The story was not exactly the same - I found that ED2 was a lot closer to the original ED than this one; acting was good, some scary moments, a lot of splatter... I liked it! - 7.5/10

I might go to John Carpenter's The Fog tomorrow night in 35mm, in Paris, France. A friend just came out of his screening and said to me that the print looked good but extremely dark. Any interest for this movie here?
