Tonight, it was Cronenberg's Dead Ringers in 35mm. A screening introduced by cinematographer Peter Suschitzky that happens to be the DP of The Empire Strikes Back. I didn't even know that when I went there and did not even know he would be there either. So, in a couple months, I've seen the editor of Star Wars and the DP of Empire. Nice.

Tonight, it was Hans Zimmer concert in Prague screened in a theater. Pretty good, but it missed Days of Thunder and they added a bass to Rain Man, dammit. I was astonished they played Mombasa in the Inception suite. I don't know when it was shot, but no Wonder Woman in there, no BvS either. Not even Batman Begins in the Dark Knight suite and it had some Rises in there.

The Shape Of Water (2017) - Beautiful, poetic, vintage... don't want to spoil anything, but if you did like Hellboy, you'll surely love this... a must see! - 8.5/10
Geostorm (2017) - Another catastrophic movie with the usual... well, catastrophes! Nice, because I do like this kind of movies, but don't expect high peaks of acting, nor a refreshing story! Well, watching this, lead me to an idea (which I WILL DO NOT!) of a super edit, including this, 2012, The Day After Tomorrow, The Core and who knows what else! - 6/10

Tonight, it was The Thing on DCP. Too bad it was not a 35mm print.

Nochnye strazhi (Guardians of the night) (2016) - A Russian film, similar somehow to Daywatch/Nightwatch (at least, to how I remember them); usual modern vampires and a hero who must defeat them... not a very original story, indeed, but cinematography was good, as CGI, and acting not bad. All in all, a very nice film for any vampire lover - 6.5/10
Scintilla (a.k.a. The Hybrid) (2014) - Bad scientist conduct terrible experiment beneath a rebel base in a former Russian republic; acting is very good, scenario is believable, limited CGI is not that bad, story is so-so, but at least quite original. - 6/10
Kill Command (a.k.a. Identify) (2016) - A squad sent to a remote location for military training discover that there is no simulation. Acting is convincing, cast is well chosen, sets are perfect, CGI is stunning, story is not fully original, but not predictable either. Reccomended to any sci-fi, robot and army lover! - 7/10
Spectral (2016) - A squad sent for a rescue mission will find unexpected and terrible enemies. A Netflix original production, this is very good; after ARQ, which is as good as well, but set almost entirely inside an house, here we see entire parts of an eastern Europe city destroyed by a civil war, so the result is really higher. Story is almost original (still reminds me partly The Darkest Hour), acting is good, CGI exceptional, never a brief boring moment... very good sci-fi film set in (almost) contemporary times - a little jem between multimillion Hollywood blockbusters! - 8/10

Hunt For the Wilderpeople (2016)
This was a delightful film with a lot of heart. It's pacing is just perfect and it really takes it time to help develop the character relationships. It was also absolutely hilarious at many points throughout. I honestly don't have any major flaws with the overall experience.

Great underappreciated movie, slammed by shill critics. The only thing bad about this movie is the finale, but the rest was surprisingly original and enjoyable! And I'm not even a fan of Orcs.

Today it was Molly's Game and 3 Billboards. Two pretty damn good movies!
Molly's Game is kind of a Scorsese-like movie with the borderline outlaw narrating their stories with pop-rock music and fast editing panning all their ups and downs, like, say, Goodfellas, Casino or The Wolf of Wall Street.
3 Billboards is a very good dramedy. An original story with great acting, great writing, and fun.
A nice day at the movies.
