I'll look for a new source to find the Philosopher's Stone shots in Open Matte, otherwise I'm not sure the quality loss in cropping it to fit would be worth changing it.

It will be nice if another open matte version of HP 1 exists in the "Philopher" version...

Anyway, I still have to check those shots, but they should be brief, isn't true?

There are multiple shots that will have to be replaced if the HDTV stream is based on the US version and you'd like to switch to Philosopher's Stone
-Hermione reading about it out loud
-In the forest with the centaur
-At Hagrids front door
-Talking to Professor McGonagall

Apart the first one - shot of the book - the others are only audio differences; AFAIK the Italian (and all European versions) should have the English "Philosopher" audio track.

So, at the end, just the opening credits and the book page shots should be replaced!

The mouth movements look similar, I'm going to overlay them real quick and do a difference check just in case.

Edit: Couldn't Overlay them, different AR, but comparing them they are all different takes, not just audio dubs.

The Hagrid scene is Audio Change Only.

The Book shot of Hermione talking and the forest shot are the same length in both and you can just swap the audio out.

The shot of Harry talking to McGonagall is more difficult because they are fairly different, but it seems like just replacing the audio for "this is about the Sorcerer's Stone" to "this is about the Philosopher's stone" should cover it. (There appears to be a slight echo or reverb on the UK version, but it could just be the YouTube source)

US (left) Vs UK (right); 16 seconds; we could live with eventual cropping, don't you think?

It's up to you, though I do think that the US shots are better - Harry in the forest reacts better in my opinion, and I like the urgency in the scene where Harry is talking to McGonagall. Take a look at the second file I posted above - I thought the UK audio matched with the US video pretty well. Seems a shame to sacrifice the Open Matte if the audio can be matched without being noticeable.

So, at the end I was right! yep, audio match video almost perfectly, and I'm pretty sure nobody will notice it.

Let's make an hybrid cut - US video (with just credits and book shots from UK), and UK audio.
