I've decided to take few days off HP saga, as HP 6 and 7 sucked away all my vitality...
 But it was rewarding, as in the meanwhile I've (re)discovered the soft+open matte hack; so, ***IF*** HP8 would be released also as variable aspect ratio, it would be possible to see it as VAR or OAR just applying the black bars in the open matte scenes; I've checked several shots, and the open matte are "real" open - no details lost on the sides! Meanwhile, I'm working on the BD covers - 1 and 2 ready, the others should be follow today; then probably I'll be back on HP 8, that starts with a difficult task of course; the opening has PG and TV logo, and the only alternative is the "embedded" video at the beginning of Freeform 720p... Small update: covers for 1...4 done, maybe the other four would be ready in the afternoon, we'll see (we: me, myself and I!
 )

OK, back on track - I needed some days off the project!
All the covers and disc labels are ready. HP 8: worked on the beginning this night, it was quite difficult to spot the right colors/brightness of the second clip to match the main one, but at the end I reached a good result (still provisional, though): Several hours of script writing and test encoding to get few seconds of material!

Fighting two days with colors, contrast, brightness, gamma, hundred tests, without success, to discover at the end that I have another source - albeit standard definition - that I could use; there are just two shots at the end, for a dozen second maybe... why, oh why I haven't thought about this before... too hot, brain is slowly liquefying inside my skull box...

Just a heads up: as I was not happy with the HP8 opening shot in SD, I managed to find out another HD source with it, and *maybe* I've found it... also, it *seems* I have also another 1080 version of HP7 - quality should be lower than 720p, but it surely helps a lot more than the other low quality 720p to get rid of the logo... at the end, happy to have waited a bit, now I can work on better sources, and release a better final version.

Can I just say that knowing the first 6 are just waiting to be encoded is killing me with impatience? ?
