Perhaps a kind of feather might help to make it less apparent?
Have you ever worked with MVDegrain? It's a temporal Grain filter with up to 6 frames analysis (3 forward, 3 backward). Has done some wonders to reduce compression artifacts on some old computer generated graphics that were strongly compressed. It doesn't always work and it's quite slow, but you might give it a try; will probably need to duplicate the clip and only apply it to one, and then overlay them and play with opacity, because as the name says it not only removes artifacts but also grain. Then combined with your grainplate you might get close to the desired result? Maybe? Just an idea.
What about overlaying the Blu Ray for an increased sharpness in the center? Feasible? Or is the master and/or grading completely different?

On the right side of the 1st screen, the grass is not in the same place. On the left, it is. Weird.
Also, on the 2nd screen, I thought that you were aiming at resulting in a clean master without subs to avoid double subtitles when people will be adding their own language subs. I wish that was still the case as I don't really like having double subtitles at the same time.

Well in Photoshop a feather is basically like a gradient/gaussian blur applied to a mask, blurring the edges of the mask (but not of the content itself of course!)
In a few cases I've had fantastic results with the following: MVDegrain (layer 1) + FQRestore (layer 2) (mixed with certain opacity) = Better sharpness, less artifact AND better grain (at least perceptually). Though the source was acceptable (Blu Ray at around 30 Mbps) to begin with, not sure if it would work here. But yeah, the processing time is ridiculous. Around 1 fps or less. Then again, x264 without that processing and with my settings was actually pretty slow too so in hindsight it didn't slow it down THAT much.
