I was able to preview the DVD (only 40% downloaded) and captured the frame with the problematic bolt:
1080i

DVD

spoRv version:

The framing seems to be the same of the 720p version.
There's the same detail loss on the dark areas of the hair as in your version, only the dark areas are blacker and the white is real white.

Hmm... the DVD has a little upper slice of extra image.

May you use the frame of my screenshot comparison - the one with the "metal X" on the background - for another comparison between [spoRv] and DVD?
Thanks!

Ok, here it is: http://screenshotcomparison.com/comparison/108417
I couldn't get the exact same frame as is still downloading, but is enough to compare both.

The fact is: do we want clipped whites - but "whiter" cube, or not - and consequetely not so white cube?
Maybe another clip inside the cube, with a lot of white, should be needed... maybe the last settings could be tweake further, but I still continue to not like the clipped whites of HDTV and DVD... do you agree?

I don't find the clipping that bad. Maybe because it is how it's supposed to look, I mean, the walls emit light, so it has sense to have some clipping in the metals crossing, and for the experiment of the cube it has sense that the light is quite hard, more extreme.
Do you want to try with another clip?

Maybe you are right, but you know... this is a fanres fever... "no clipped whites, no crushed blacks"...
And maybe we do need an external opionion... or not? Let's someone else chime in - possibly someone who actually saw the movie in theater, then we'll continue the discussion based on his feedbacks. Is this a good idea?

Of course! Another opinion would be great, but I don't think the rest of the current members are too interested on the movie, haha!
By the way, I almost have the italian DVD. It has some nice bonus features and a commentary.

"Italians do it better"... do you remember the T-shirt?
Let's pass some days and, if no one will intervene, to decide which version to preseve, we'll fight until death!

Well, the french version has some more extras, but italian is fine.
Hahaha! It's ok by me. First wait and then fight.
I think we should add the bonus features, and you?

Additional bonus disc is fine - even more if extras are taken from different editions, and they could be improved using the PaNup technique...
About fight: wrestling or boxe?!?
