[Released] Terminator 2 CDS mix
Seems as if SC took the old mix, and botched the procession of producing the HD-DVD.

The thing is that studios frequently apply this sort of processing and think that they are improving the audio. Unfortunately, they wouldn't look on the results as botched.

Are you sure that it is the new mix? ATM, I think best indicator is the percussion at the beginning, when/after the resistance guy is killed, with the new mixes it is totally absent.

And the channel separation in the music in the chase scene is definitely very much like the CDS mix, so to me that indicates it's not the remix. We'll have to wait next week for Stamper BD-rom purchase so he can rip the BD and extract its tracks. 'Cause after all this, we've all had apetite for a lossless CDS mix. Going back to the Jap DVD would be a bummer. Still very much better than AC3, though.

Full bitrate DTS is no slouch, and some of the best sound mixes I've ever experienced are 384kb/s AC3 laserdisc tracks. It's a shame that the era that brought back lossless audio (after laserdisc PCM) also brought unprecedented meddling/remixing of original soundtracks. It truly is all in the mix!

Yes at worse if the graphics reveal the Blu ray is also processed (I listened to the french 5.1 and it is also processed with the voices on all three fronts channels instead of center, however the Dolby Surround French sounds awesome), we will have the jp DVD DTS for posterity.

Is there any way to extract only the missing frequency's from the JP DVD DTS and apply it to the lossless track?

Might be completely unnecessary as Im with zoidberg on the 'all in the mix' sentiment.

I've just had a quick look at the HD-DVD DTS-MA track thanks to MrBrown. It certainly seems to be the earlier mix with the same/similar content to the Live DVD, the only difference I can detect at the moment is that the LFE channel has either been lowered or filtered in some way. Someone would have to sit down and do an ABX to really know the score.

You'd have to decide whether you could live with the extra processing that seems to have been applied (possibly to make it more 'HD'?).

I think I get it, the 16khz frequency hole might be just the doctored LFE no?

Compare the LFE channels in audacity you'll see right away if some processing was made. If the other channels are untouched, then we can maybe sync the DTS LFE to the Blu/HD-DVD tracks and remux.

Maybe they just forgot to add, or ommited the .1 contents and the track is empty, to save space due to the HD-DVD specs.

I did check the LFE in audacity. Like I said the LFE channel is there, it's either lower in level or maybe it's been filtered of it's higher frequencies.

All I have aside from the Skynet Bluray is the U.S. 2 Disc Artisan Ultimate Edition. This project could certainly bring a nice addition to this already cool film.
