I can provide modded professional programs and plugins to those who need them; I’ve tested them all, and they are clean and run without issues.
iZotope RX Advanced (2023 version) for Windows. On the version i have and all the key features of the premium and advanced editions are permanently unlocked. This applies to the all softwares on my entire list 😎 RX is the best restoration tool available. You can make the LFE channel of T2 sound even better than the original 😉
Others
Leapwig Audio full plugin bundle (the capabilities of "CenterOne," in particular, will leave you amazed. Note: You need to use iZotope RX instead of Leapwing RootOne to process the bass, because RX is the most accurate solution)
Voxengo Span Plus (the best real-time spectrum analyzer; it is also the best tool for detecting bass frequencies)
Youlean Loudness Meter (the only program that detects the quietest sounds with absolute visual and scalar accuracy; the quietest sounds I’ve detected so far come from the Cinema DTS mix of The Matrix—specifically, the sounds of forks against plates during the "steak-eating" scene)

The last time I checked, the French dub in DTS-HDHR 5.1 on the Skynet Edition and then in DTS-HDMA in 2017 sounded like it was based on the CDS mix. So it was probably made from the unflawed stems. Makes me wonder what could come out of a hybrid made out of the English front stage from the Japanese DVD, the surrounds from the French dub (assuming no French dialogues bleeds into them) and the LFE from the 1998 LD.

So you mean, regarding my hybrid idea, that the front stage from the French HD-DVD/Blu-ray could be better than the Japanese DTS? That plus the surrounds from the French dub plus the LFE from the LD. It could worth to give it a shot.

hello
the LD 2.0 PCM, is this in dolby surround matrix?
I was just a thought, if so can we use an app to decode this into into a 4.0/or 5.0 soundfile? > i understand the channels may not be 100% exact like the 5.1 discrete

AV magazine at the time had an explanation from the LD producer, and based on what I remember reading back then, I’ll explain how AC3 was first added to the LD.
During the production of Squeeze LD [PILF-2187], they asked Skywalker Sound if they still had the 5.1ch mix that had been created for the original theatrical release, for use as the AC3 track. They found it in storage and sent it over.
However, after checking the playback, they noticed a few things they weren’t happy with and offered to make some corrections. But there wasn’t enough time, and there was no budget for a remix, so they decided to use it as-is this time.
This disc definitely uses the original CDS audio.
However, the picture quality of the independently produced master received poor reviews, so one year later they created another Squeeze LD through the THX mastering process.
At this point, the previous 5.1ch mix was also THX-mastered. It had not been remixed yet, but there should have been adjustments to things like noise during the mastering process.
This THX picture and THX audio were then used as-is for the DVD. The Japanese DTS DVD we are talking about was created by adding DTS on top of that, apparently with the intention of appealing to enthusiasts.
(There is a possibility that the DTS received some mastering with slightly exaggerated EQ.)
Later, the sound designer finally did the remix that had originally been requested, resulting in the current 5.1ch mix.
Technically, it’s 6.1ch, but since the rear-center channel is matrixed, it has to be described as 5.1ch for lossless audio purposes.
Even though there are only two different mixes, the sound seems to get tamer every time it’s re-released. So I think it’s probably not a mix issue, but rather because the mastering engineer keeps making unnecessary adjustments.

I used to have that original squeeze disc. Sold it off because I wasn't a fan of the picture. I did this ages before I learned how to capture the audio and now I'm kicking myself for not doing it. I have the US AC3 release which I think is the best track I've heard outside of 70mm mag. Maybe someone out there can cap that squeeze disc for science.

I'm not certain I have the first Squeeze LD but no player anymore, but at the time, I though the Squeeze LD of T2 was the best sounding of the film ever. It's possible it's the actual 5.1 mix untouched?
