Does anyone else here wish there's a proper restoration to Dario Argento's Four Flies on Grey Velvet? It's quite a shame how there still isn't a proper uncut release of the movie that doesn't splice in a crappy VHS master for certain scenes.

I enjoy World Cinema in general and that of course, includes Italian films.
Almost all of my favourites have already been mentioned by other posters. I'll add:
El Alamein - La linea del fuoco
Gomorrah
Mediterraneo

Zapping on TV, today I stumbled upon a movie that I was not even aware of... title is "Happy Family" (2010), by Gabriele Salvatores (the same director of Mediterraneo, Nirvana, and some other good, interesting movie). Well, long story short, is a kind of a meta film - where the main star is also the writer of the movie itself!!!
It's strange, but very good - told by someone that does not like so much Italian cinema - and, much important, story was unique - again, told by someone that watched something like 10,000 movies in his life... so, if you have a chance of watching it, just let it play for five minutes - as I did; if you will like the first minutes, you surely will like the whole movie!
Note: with this, I realized that unknown or unexpected movies often are even better than "expected" ones, maybe because they add the surprise.

At work, I'm currently on Mario Bava's Black Sabbath (I tre volti della paura) 1963, and in "The Wurdalak" segment, I'm having a hard time figuring out where Count Vladimir D'Urfe was heading on his horse when he encounters the dead body with the dagger in its back. He says it near the beginning when he's introducing himself in the house to the guy that greets him with a rifle. And that's just my problem: the guy puts his rifle down and the sound effect covers the dialog and I can't hear what D'Urfe says. Something like Gersy, Jessy, supposedly in Russia. Does any of you guys have that movie with subtitles in any language? I've found a summary that says Gersy, French subtitles that say Jessy and Google can't find any of those in Russia... Is it a made-up location?

... since I referenced these ...
Made In Italy - 2019 - Italy
Made In Italy - 2019 - 7/10
“Elegance is not being noticed, it's about being remembered.” Giorgio Armani
Her parents want her to finish university already, marry a nice boy, stay in the house and make lots of babies.
Irene, less sure that is what she wants, hires on at Appeal, a mid-tier fashion magazine.
Milan, mid 70’s, and a very heady time as new designers Versace, Armani, Pucci, Fiorucci pull the center of the fashion world to Italy.
Apprentice Irene, in this fairy tale, swiftly meets designers, tours factories, goes on foreign photo shoots.
By the conclusion, character trajectories predict who will succeed, and who will disappear.
Funny, sexy (ample nudity), somewhat historical, this short series is well conceived and tightly focused.
Audience may be limited, but this will be irresistible to fashionistas.

Inspector De Luca - 2008 - Italy
Inspector De Luca - 2008 - 7/10
AKA - Il Commissario De Luca
Four part cop series plays out like four movies.
Set in Bologna from 1938-1948, from the apex of Mussolini’s fascism to the troublesome post war period.
De Luca, refusing to choose sides (partisan v fascist) irritates both while sticking with police work.
He is generally out-numbered and outgunned.
Each episode is a one-off, usually something seedy, sloppily covered up, with the influential in the shadows.
Impeccable production values, from uniformed blackshirts to squalor to opulence.
My knowledge of Italian history is sketchy, and several personages and references escaped me.

I'm a big fun of them!
Quite creative and I also love their culture having been raised from the place since childhood.

I rarely watch the Italian movies. The movies that I do watch are the ones from USA because they are entertaining .
