The 'interpositive' refers to Nolan's decision to use interpositive film materials (as opposed to the OCN) for the image acquisition.

Is that a good thing or a bad thing?

A good thing for the colors, a (relatively) bad thing as the interpositive has less details and gradation steps, still enough for a 2K master - and I think for a 4K, too, even if probably the resolution is something less - some experts would correct me if needed!

I see, I see. So overall a good thing in my book.
I do look forward to when the 4K is cracked. With A LOT of luck, I can use the iTunes to apply a one-time blanket LUT to get the correct look for a nice UHDRip that can then replace the old Blu Rays.
All 3 UHD remuxes are on Blutopia, and TDK is freeleech + double upload during the next 6 days. Now is the time. The cyan screen caps look so right!
Right click to see 'em in full screen.

I don't know how they did those screen caps as it is an HDR UHD Blu-ray. My equipment is not HDR, and the one time I tried to watch an HDR episode of Stranger Things, well, strange things happened colorwise, so... Hopefully, someone with the capabilities will do an encode in SDR 1080p using that source.

I think the way downloads on the scene are going is that SDR 1080p (or H264) is slowly being phased out. Some bloggers who do fanres stuff already switched to H265, leaving a trail of fans behind. Soon it's gonna be H265 1080p or 4K, no more H264 stuff.

I can play H265 on my Zappity One 4K HDR player, that's okay. My OLED TV is not HDR, though, and is Full HD 1080 "only". |
