UAR (Ultimate Aspect Ratio) screenshot comparisons
#21
Well T2 can be done with a taller AR combining the 4K and 2K recent remasters. I think you could even add more up and down room using the 2015 disc and color matching it to the new. They all have different framings.

Sure! But it will add not much image, albeit better than nothing... Wink

Yes it will make it like 2.1:1 or something, always nice it can make it a 70mm print!

2.10:1? Will be great, even if I think it will end up around 2.20:1 (at best) - still similar to 70mm aspect ratio, though! Big Grin

Any comparison image, to get an idea of added image?

Is there a way to deal with the HDR tone mapping yet? Surely the 4K/2K won't match up.

AFAIK there is a way to convert HDR to SDR in avisynth; still haven't test it, though.

My impression of HDR-to-SDR conversion is that it's still experimental and not yet a routine process in the way that, for example, the old Rec601<–>Rec709 conversion was.

Hey spoRv, I wanted to do what you did for that Harry Potter and the order of the Phoenix UAR shot but for all movies and using the 4K BD. Is there a way to use AutoOverlay while preserving the Rec2020 HDR colorspace/metadata and having the SDR portions be automatically adjusted through `coloradjust? Do you think you can help me out?
I really think it's about time we have a definitive HP release.
here are some tests I did with the 4K BD converted to SDR. However the colors don't always match despite using coloradjust, I would also like to add the DVD OM version to the mix and preserve the HDR if possible.
