Yes, was struggling with Audacity quite a bit myself at first but the key is to select "24-bit" as default sample format under "Quality", setting Dither to "none" and just saving is as 16-bit PCM, truncating the least significant bits which are zero anyways. Otherwise I suppose, Audacity always applies some sort of dithering, corrupting any AC3 or DTS frames which might be embedded.

I have it set to do that anyway though and it still does not appear to work. Hmm...

I've got the US PCM LD on the way. I'll definitely capture and offer it whenever I get it.

I have the discs, a player and demodulator just no recording gear for the capture yet. It’s on the to do list.

Well, for the manageable investment equal to a mediocre meal at McDonald's, you could easily shorten that list by one element as any cheap one with the C-Media chipset 6206-LX will do it for LaserDisc audio which is 48 kHz / 16 Bit at maximum.

At that price, one could even consider getting two and capture AC3 and PCM in one pass if both are wanted to be preserved.
