Léon: The Professional 5.1

According to a reply I received on another forum:

Almost all prints were SR only.  There were a very few handful of SDDS struck, and I mean a FEW.

Of course a Sony release on UHD must have no problems to use it!

But about it being an SDDS-8 release, I don't think so; I bet it is only a 5.1 version.

I guess Sony wanted their sound system logo on the credits even if it wasn't used on many prints.

The LAST ACTION HERO UHD had 5.1 and 2.0 mixes.

I presume that the 2.0 was the Dolby Stereo mix, and that the 5.1 was the 6-channel mix of the SDDS?

I mention this because LAH like LEON had SDDS and Dolby Stereo logos on its credits.

Hopefully the 5.1 on the Leon re-issue is a 6-channel SDDS and not a downmix of the Atmos.

Hero was the first SDDS title and had 6 and 8 channel mixes in the format, it should have been hook but Snr Spielbergo wasn't happy with the reliability

Reading on some projectonists and 35mm aficionados forum, NOBODY was happy with its reliability!

Sad, because apart the track wear, SDDS-8 was a great sound system, technically.

Leon Atmos: the normal path to follow would be to use the multichannel (not 6-track, but the one used to derive it, that could be for example 16-track, 24-track) to build an Atmos mix; if they have not it, the 6-track master could be used (with less precision of course); releasing the Atmos downmix is a nonsense, as any Dolby TrueHD (Digital Plus) encoded with Atmos are automatically downmixed when a non-Atmos receiver is used.

But from studios, we can expect anything, so...

New information from a BD.com user about Leon/The Professional audio mixes

...I saw Leon/The Professional which had an entirely new 5.1/ 8 track mix created just for the US and Columbia/Tristar controlled markets. I saw it late in the run, which resulted in the print being beat to hell and dropping out back to optical. It was pretty distracting.

Also, has anyone checked the old CTHV R1 DVD of The Professional (US version)? I hear it has a 5.1 mix that resembles the 6 channel SDDS and is different than the 5.1 on the Professional version on BD/UHD.

This one might be worth getting.thought the bass was way over done in the Atmos

How is the bass on the 7.1, in comparison? I know this user is banned. Question is for anyone. Almost a fortnight ago, I ordered that Hong Kong Dolby Vision disc of the extended with DTS 7.1 and Atmos. Still waiting. I have only ever heard the Atmos in surround sound.
