Not pertinent to the project but pertinent to the movie: Has anyone else here heard that the rights for Dawn of the Dead are finally free from Rubinstein's iron grasp! There's going to be a full extensive restoration to the movie and each of its cuts!
Second Sight Wrote:GEORGE A ROMERO’S DAWN OF THE DEAD is coming to 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray in the UK and will feature ’Theatrical’, ‘Cannes’ and ‘Argento’ cuts!! We will also be releasing on standard Blu-ray together with our Blu-ray release of MARTIN. Many thanks to producer Richard P Rubinstein for allowing us access to the original elements, which includes the original camera negative for Dawn and dupe negative for Martin. New 4K scans are underway at Final Frame in New York which will be followed by grading and extensive restoration supervised by DP Michael Gornick. It will then be over to David Mackenzie at Fidelity in Motion for mastering and encoding. Currently slated for a late summer release, more news to follow…. Thanks given by: nafroe , applesandrice

Top Gun Open Matte (Quick Project v3.0) 2. Alien 1999 HDTV Master (Quick Project v1.0) 3. The Fellowship of the Ring Variable Aspect Ratio (Original TC Colors v1.0A) 4. The Fellowship of the Ring Variable Aspect Ratio (Color Corrected v1.0B) 5. Dawn of the Dead Regrade (35 Project #3 v1.13) Thanks given by: bronan , LucasGodzilla ,
Thanks for this PDB. Watching your regrade side-by-side with the BD release really highlights how dim and muggy that transfer looks. Though some of the scenes in the shopping mall look very blue in your version. I think the moment that I particularly took note of was the black-and-white snapshot of Stephen and Roger shaking hands with the wads of cash. In the BD it's all neutral greys and looks like a photograph whereas it's completely blue in the regrade and looks a little bit odd.
This isn't a criticism I'm just always interested in the references and decisions that go into a project like this. Thanks again for my new go-to version of this great movie.

Good spot. Yeah I originally changed that to b&w but left it that way because the photo was colored in some other dvd versions. I went back and forth a few times on it but ultimately just left it that way.

Just finished it last night and thought it looked great as well! I think the cooler look definitely helps a bit with the zombie makeup. The only strange thing I spotted was the news anchors cheeks in the opening segment looked kind of splotchy and weird (around 2:40)

Yeah another thing that I debated and looked over other copies about. It’s kinda buried in there in the original bd but the dark minimizes it and the cc brings it when the skin tone is pushed orange. I did a bunch of different looks for that and none looked satisfactory to me. Perhaps I can try again later. Went through 13 version what's one more

Have you seen the 4K remaster of Argento's cut? Just wondered what you thought of the colours. A lot of the mall scenes look very green which apparently is the way florescent lights resolve on film, suggesting this could well be accurate to the original colours.
