"Seems to appear"! Damn, that's twice the amount of uncertainty in just 3 words! I should be able to check how the new master compares to the Blu-rays framewise/syncwise in a couple of hours.

There's definitely ten frames difference between masters at the beginning (based on PDB 4k iTunes which is synced to bluray), the uhd master having ten frames less so based on that 1/23.976x10 = 417. There maybe one extra frame somewhere in the film but haven't fully checked that as towards the end of the credits it looks to increase to 11 frames.

The plugin ripbot 1.23 uses for HDR to SDR conversion is DGHDRtoSDR 1.2 (DGTonemap). There have been numerous updates since this time and it is now on 1.8.

Hoping ripbot implements this update soon to see how it compares.

There's no reason you couldn't download the newest version and drop it into the ripbot directory. Might be worth testing.

Not sure that would work as its called DGTonemap.dll rather than DGHDRtoSDR in ripbot and there maybe other changes within the program. I got this info from a German forum and there was no mention of just adding it into the ripbot directory.

Well, it did use that AVISynth script, so arguably you could just replace the function name in that?

OK, so the 2008 and 2010 Blu-rays are in sync with each other, so the PCM track synced to one or the other will work with both.

However, for the new UHD remaster, it needs 2 adjustments:
1) a minus 10-frame initial delay. (-417 ms)
2) another minus 1-frame delay at around 51'33"-51'34" between this 2 shots (probably a reel change as it was also there that there was a 1-frame difference between the collector DVD and the Blu-rays):




Arnie sitting on a log is frame number 74182 on the Blu-rays and 74171 on the UHD remaster.

Or we could just live with a barely, if at all perceptible, half-frame out of sync movie by just go for a minus 10.5-frame initial delay of -438 ms.

So my delay at the beginning was spot on and my assumption there was one frame difference during the film was also right. Now I need to add thst one second delay to my track.

On top of the initial delay of -417ms (10 frames),

-edit=0:51:33.459,-42ms (1 frame)

which in total covers the 11 frame difference, should sync it correctly.
