[Idea] Red-Green colourblind versions of Nolan's movies
#1
I just read that Nolan is red-green colourblind.

So the way we see the movies, is not at all the way he sees them.

I wonder how interesting it would be to filter the movies in such a way that they resemble what he would see if he saw them.

I see them the way he does but it doesn't help. I haven't liked a single Nolan film ever.

Mind you, all these films probably have a cinematographer involved who can see colors fine.

So ... hmmm ... reduced green & red sensitivity would result in relatively stronger blue ... as in today's Blu-ray releases? (I always thought "blu-ray" was a play on words.)   Big Grin

I think it would be more like red and green being combined in a way that they become indistinguishable from each other, if that makes sense. Not sure how that could be done in a way that realistically resembles actualy red-green vision tho. Hmm.

There's no way to do that, for him his red-green colorblind is his normal. If you filter the entire movie black and white it would look the same to him as it does to people with normal colour vision, but he would probably see it clearer than we would as colorblind people usually have better luminosity vision due to less interference from cones.

No. That doesn't work. It's an explanation, not really an example.

Edit: It is important to understand that there are different types and levels of red/green color blindness. So unless you actually had information from Nolan's optometrist, anything you try is just a guess.
