Just wanted to put my thoughts out there.

I feel there's a difference to be drawn between open mattes and IMAX experiences. One that IMAX themselves aren't too keen on drawing. They bank on the "extra picture" being the huge sell that entices people into theater seats, having convinced the filmmakers to grant them the uncropped footage as their brand hook. There is a fundamental difference between filming with strict ideas of composition, blocking, framing, etc. relative to the enlarged frame of IMAX in mind, and retaining the snippets that were intended to be left on the cutting-room floor from the outset to sell back at a premium. The same goes for post-converted IMAX. Hence, IMAX... and LIEMAX.

When filmed with IMAX in mind -- à la "Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol", "Dunkirk", "Star Trek Into Darkness", and "Interstellar" -- the experience can be transportative. And I mean TRUE 70mm IMAX. Where you can swivel your head from left to right and still see screen stretching out towards the edges of your periphery.

To whom it may concern: someone made an UAR version of it, though still called it "hybrid" - but it is actually a composition of open matte and widescreen version (with Russian text).

Happy to know that I am not the only one that could appreciate a movie in UAR, and crazy enough to work on it! Big Grin

Does anyone have a link to the Bluebird version? I have been looking everywhere for the version with the English text. Thanks.

I made my own version using Iron.Man.2008.Open.Matte.1080p-BLUEBIRD and English 2.40:1 BluRay so it now has English titles and locations.

Obviously it could be done much better using AutoOverlay but that's above my skill level unfortunately.
