Looking for a Studio Logo in HD (formerly: Looking for an 80's era Warner logo in HD)
#11
Unfortunately applesandrice, nearly all of these on your list have the modern CG shield on BD and whatever circulating broadcast/streaming masters. However, select streaming versions of Over the Top (using what seems to be the master Warner used for their 2004 DVD) has the standard "Communications" version variant while American Flyers is the "Presents" variant, but again an old crusty master.

Clan of the Cave Bear doesn't have a HD master AFAIK. I imagine when Warner MPI gets around to creating a 2/4k scan we'll see that on BD through Warner Archive, likely with the original WB tags left intact going by recent WA BDs.

Thanks, SpaceBlackKnight. It's disappointing, but what I suspected. Perhaps there's something from '88-89 that we've overlooked ...

Thanks guys for all the help. Turns out the Goonies logo was long enough to work and I was able to put it into my Mad Max 3 project. Thanks again.

I updated the title of this page since I'm on the hunt for a few more studio logo/openings and didn't want to start a new thread.

Does anyone know what the Studio Canal logo from around 1986 and where to find it in HD?

In reading I assume it would be Le Studio Canal+ like at the beginning of this video:

But the history of SC is unfamiliar to me and it seems that like other studios they have wiped the old logos away in remasters.

Whoa! 1986 Studio Canal logo in HD? I'm afraid it's a lost cause. I don't even recall ever seeing that logo on video.

According to the CLG Wiki, there are two early SC logos (from 1992 not 86). The most common version is actually an in-credit logo seen on some Carolco productions such as Basic Instinct and Chaplin, so it shouldn't be too hard to find being it was usually part of the end credits. The only solo on-screen logo that was around before the sliding "StudioCanal" from 2000, is of https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ePcN8LTqh54. However, it looked exclusive to video prints and not seen theatrically, so the only to find that one would be searching French SECAM tapes from the era.

Then there was Canal+ Image with variations being

I think this one is in front of Basic Instinct, or Cliffhanger or Hudson Hawk, although Hudson Hawk is not scope. I'll check what I have when back at home tonight.
