Also, to those who requested the link, I've updated it to include both the original TS, and a TS with the commercials removed.

So, to me, this looks like it's the same master as the DVD (not sure if there are multiple DVD versions), but it's 720p instead of 480p. So that's cool I guess!

What's interesting is how the pixel aspect ratio isn't right on the LD, the image has been vertically squashed. Here's a comparison:

35mm:

spoRv matched to 35mm:

For some reason it seems quite common for older telecines not to have a correct pixel aspect ratio, I guess so they could cram in as much picture as possible. LD resolution for NTSC is only 425x480, so the original resolution would look something like this (except interlaced, assuming 16 lines for overscan):

It'd be great if someone could do a raw LD cap sometime.

Valeyard, do you think the DVD (and hence the ABC recording) is faithful to the original (unaltered) film?

If so, the ABC could be used as "master" for an eventual project.

Interesting!
I also have a few HDTV-recordings from German TV, all in 1080i and with logos in different corners, but all from the same HDTV-master:

If they're of any use - let me know. Smile

Nup. But what people want to use for their projects is up to them, you *may* be able to get the recoloured mess to look somewhat authentic.

sporv, i think this could be a very interesting mini project, combining the different hdtv sources to create something without logos, i think that would be cool

I meant, is this unaltered, apart colors?
