The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly (Italian Cut Reconstruction in English)
#21
Maybe then just quest for a similar voice. Just be alert to any line that could be similar while watching westerns dubs from the time Smile

Here's a test render of the beating scene. I haven't finished editing the video portion (large segments toward the end are still just the BD extra), and I still want to look at smoothing a couple of the audio transitions. But other than that, I've pretty much finished editing the sequence. Also, the Italian line has not been replaced by anything yet, I've just removed the Italian voice with just music playing over the shot.

This has been on the back burner for a while, but I recently started working on it again and made some progress. For the time being I'm leaving all the Italian titles as they are. I have the extra line in the torture scene left silent right now, and I'll decide what to do with it when I'm done with the rest of the project. I'll post again when I get it closer to being finished, but that shouldn't be too long now.

As far as I can tell I've finished editing the project. The only thing left I have to deal with is color correcting the rest of the torture scene extended shots, and then I'll make a decision on the missing line. I'm also thinking about maybe making a second version of this without all the extra lower quality footage; something closer to being a better version of the extended edition, so that the experience is seamless. Would you guys be interested in something like that?

Yes, as long as you have the time to do it.

Actually, I want to make an Italian specific version, whenever I can sync the Italian mono. With a separate version, I can include the correct shot of Tuco yelling at the end, since the regular English audio version of my project uses the "son of a bitch" shot for English audio sync. The Italian titles will be used in both versions though.

I think I'm gonna be rendering out too much stuff with this one, haha.

I rendered it today and will hopefully get it uploaded soon. I left the Italian line as it is in the audio, and I asked a friend to help me out with a potential English fandub of the line. If we actually get around to doing that, I'll upload the updated audio to be muxed in by whoever wants it.

About a possible release without the poor quality extended Italian cut footage inserted; It was easy to remove the additional shots and revert the torture scene to the international cut. That said, I have a decision to make. I'm not fond the way they censored the end of the scene by cutting to a close up of Lee Van Cleef. I had an idea to keep the IC version of the scene, but replace that close up with just one shot from the lower quality source, followed by the Mondo-sourced "I'll talk, I'll talk!" shot.

This would ensure that the audio track doesn't require edits. Alternatively, I could use the editing from the Mondo for that bit.

Just got done re-rendering this to fix an issue. I started looking at the Italian audio sources (Mondo audio and Kino Italian option), and there are some strange things I've noticed. Some bits are synced differently, or are out of sync in one, and there is at least one part where the voices match the English track for some reason. I'll have some figuring out to do before I make the Italian version of this I guess. For the "seamless" version, I think I will use the two shots in the above post.
