[Released] Superman IV

I'm having some issues with the bluray, I'm hoping someone might chime in.

The bluray was authored in Encore.

If I play the bluray in PowerDVD, everyhting works other than the popup menu. The button is there, but doesn't do anything when clicked.

If I play the DVD in Arcsoft TMT, the main and chapter menus are navigatable, but when I play the movie the program freezes, and I have to quit back to the menu or exit out.

I'm currenltly waiting on a new burner so I can try a copy in my PS3.

Any ideas?

I use MultiAVCHD, and the disc doesn't work well on every standalone player...

Try to use BDedit to fix somehow the BD structure - it *could* work...

I've been using BDedit to add in my add my subs after the disc is encoded to save any messing around with them within Encore. Pretty good liitle program, but not very intuitive.

I've managed to sort my problem though. Turns out it was the naming scheme within my popup menu. There was not page 0, it just started from page 1. I did a test with one of the standard menus within Encore and after it worked I compared the layer names to my non responsive menu. Bit of a pain since it will never work, but Encore doesn't flag it as an issue before building the disc.

Just some QA work to go with the BD and it will be ready to go.

This disc was my first experience watching the movie. I can't really say that Christopher Reeve's fourth outing as the Caped Wonder is the best film, but the project was really well made. I was impressed with the International Cut scenes, which, despite not looking HD, are upconverted admirably. The color correction of the entire movie is one of the high points of this custom; the look of 1980s cinematography has definitely been restored. The others in the box set, which I have watched beforehand, can occasionally make Superman's iconic blue suit a strange shade of teal.

Both audio options were great to my ears, though the PCM seemed to sound better.

One thing that I did find odd was the aspect ratio of the Warner Bros Home Video logo, which made me feel rather nostalgic. It was stretched, not pillar-boxed, to 16:9. Methinks it would have been better in the proper 4:3 unless you wanted to try reformatting it to fit the rest of the movie's 2:35.

Thanks for the feedback, glad you enjoyed it! I agree with you on the PCM, it's got a bit more oomph to it. The WB logo I stretched as i didn't want to change aspect ratios. Since it was either stretch or zoom to fill the 16x9 ratio,  I went with the first option. 

Superman III recoloured will be next if you're up for some more Reeve action.

Superman III is interesting. You probably know all this, but...

The pre-DVD color timing was quite different in places. While we obviously don't know if the theatrical timing was even more different, we do know that in all versions prior to the first DVD remaster, certain shots had a chemical process applied which "bleached" the blue skies to a white-gray color, to hide the wires holding up Chris Reeve. The most notable shot is at the chemical plant fire, when he says "My God, they're trapped!" and flies off. I'm watching the extended cut preservation, while the color is a little unstable and the sky looks yellowish due to video noise, you can tell the sky looks dull and overcast-y, and the wires can't be made out. All releases from 2001 onwards came from elements without this processing, so those shots had the untreated blue skies of the original photography...clearly exposing the wires. For the Blu-Ray, they had to digitally remove the wires. Even though the wires are gone, I still think it would be interesting to time it to the laserdisc or something.

Yeah, I did know that, but I won't be changing the sky back to the overcast look.
