The dolby digital soundtrack comes from the theatrical printmaster originally released in theaters. The DTS soundtrack was created especially for this DVD.
Two different masters were created from the original stems, each with different sample and resolution rates. One master was struck for the theatrical release, and encoded at 320kbps, at 16bits, and at the 48khz sample rate. That same master was used for the DVD release at 448kbps.
For DTS a completely different master was struck from the same original stems, but encoded at 754kbps at 24bit, and a 48khz sample rate, and with a discrete rear center signal. This soundtrack could not be the same as the Dolby soundtrack because dolby center rear is matrixed, and therefore cannot be converted to discrete for DTS.
Looks like DD 5.1-EX is the one to go for. Does anybody has it and could share?
I can probably get this. If you still need it (and I can figure out how to strip and send the AC3 track), it is all yours.

Hi alinskey! Thanks so much for this, but I've already bought the DVD off eBay for like 4 bucks or whatever, so waiting for it to arrive

So, one more to track down - Leon: The Professional. Judging by this image, it was released in Dolby Stereo, so LD should have it?

Both US and French/International cuts of Leon were a 5.1 native mix in Dolby Digital, but also had alternate Dolby Surround LRCS mixes done for theaters not equipped with DD and for TV/VHS versions. The US version also had a theatrical DTS 5.1 mix, but I don't think that ever had a release anywhere not even a DTS LD. The DTS track that debuted on the Superbit DVD and spanned up to the 2009 BD is said to be different than the theatrical DTS, probably optimized for home theater systems, but is also said to be vastly superior overall to the messy, reverberated Atmos mix on the MI4K BD and the UHDs.

Thanks for this! Although it seems odd that they never mention neither Dolby Digital nor DTS on the print itself. They do however mention SDDS on the US print, so of course, the descrete 5.1 mix should also exist along with the Surround.

The early DVDs in FR of Leon had the 2.0 mixes I think. I had them but sold them.

If the Optimum Blu is licensed from Gaumont (who owns international rights as Columbia/Sony controls it in the US), it probably uses the same master as the Gaumont French Blu. The Gaumont BD in addition to a 5.1 DTS-MA English track (which is probably the Super-bit DTS remix or might be the DTS theatrical) also has English and French DTS-MA 5.0 tracks that are believed to be ether a discrete form of the DS LRCS mix, or the 5.1 mistakenly encoded without the LFE (which had happened on some Disney BDs such as Muppets Treasure Island and Tarzan).

SDDS was a unique 8 channel format, but titles that had those tracks obviously didn't have them on video, though with Atmos you'd think they could re-purpose or work from those SDDS mixes instead of completely working from scratch with original stems and introducing changes or other problems.

THE DOORS - looks like AC-3 5.1 on the LD is the theatrical CDS mix. Anybody have it - would love to sync it to the UHD!
