[Request] Tracking down theatrical mixes
#1
Hi guys,

I'm trying to track down a number of original theatrical mixes I'd like to sync to the UHDs that don't have them, and I would really appreciate this community expertise on the subject. Also, if you have any of them and are willing to share it with me, I'd gladly except the challenge of syncing them and share with everybody when done.

So here goes:

A FEW GOOD MEN - LD has Dolby Surround (original mix or the closest to it?)
SCHINDLER'S LIST - Cinema DTS (blu ray has DTS-HD MA 5.1, is this the original or near fielfd remix?)
BRAVEHEART - Dolby True HD 5.1 on blu ray could be the original DD (did it have DTS cinema?)
THE LOST WORLD: JURASSIC PARK - LD has DTS (original mix?)
THE BIG LEBOWSKI - Cinema DTS (blu ray has DTS-HD MA 5.1, is this the original or near fielfd remix?)
SAVING PRIVATE RYAN - Cinema DTS? (blu ray's DTS-HD MA 5.1 is supposedly inferior both to DTS on DVD and cinema DTS)
THE MUMMY - Cinema DTS?
GLADIATOR - Cinema DTS, it's somewhere out there...
HOW THE GRINCH STOLE CHRISTMAS (Jim Carrey) - Cinema DTS?

Thanks guys, any help of getting a hold of these would be very much appreciated.

I think I read somewhere that the DTS DVD contained that theatrical DTS, but I am not sure about that.

Well, the R1 DVD has DTS 6.1 ES (Discrete), but was it mixed like that for cinema release?

Gladiator has the dd ex/dts es 6.1 on the signature dvd which I think has been synced here to the BD.
A Few Good Men should have originally been dolby stereo and that's what is on the LD.

SPR has fans of each release. Some swear by the DD ac3 LD, some by the dvd, some by the dts dvd and some by the BD.

Thanks for this! Was the Gladiator released theatrically in 6.1?
I checked the SPR UHD, and they have the original DD 5.1, unfortunately only lossy, but at least something.

So, some update on the Gladiator Signature Collection DVD I found online:

The dolby digital soundtrack comes from the theatrical printmaster originally released in theaters. The DTS soundtrack was created especially for this DVD.

Two different masters were created from the original stems, each with different sample and resolution rates. One master was struck for the theatrical release, and encoded at 320kbps, at 16bits, and at the 48khz sample rate. That same master was used for the DVD release at 448kbps.

For DTS a completely different master was struck from the same original stems, but encoded at 754kbps at 24bit, and a 48khz sample rate, and with a discrete rear center signal. This soundtrack could not be the same as the Dolby soundtrack because dolby center rear is matrixed, and therefore cannot be converted to discrete for DTS.

Looks like DD 5.1-EX is the one to go for. Does anybody has it and could share?

Does anybody know if the UK blu ray release of Bound from Arrow has an original stereo? It has LPCM 2.0, but is it a confirmed original mix, or just some sort of downmix?
