Fright Night (1985) Arriving On UHD
#1
Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has officially announced that it will release on 4K Blu-ray Tom Holland's Fright Night (1985), starring Chris Sarandon, William Ragsdale, Amanda Bearse, Roddy McDowall, and Stephen Geoffreys. The release will be available for purchase on October 4.

Studio description: Meet Jerry Dandrige. He's sweet, sexy, and he likes to sleep in late. You might think he's the perfect neighbor. But before inviting Jerry in for a nightcap, there's just one thing you should know. Jerry prefers his drinks warm, red, and straight from the jugular! It's FRIGHT NIGHT, a horrific howl starring Chris Sarandon as the seductive vampire and William Ragsdale as the frantic teenager struggling to keep Jerry's deadly fangs out of his neck. Only 17-year-old Charley Brewster (Ragsdale) knows Jerry's bloodcurdling secret. When Charley can't get anybody to believe him, he turns to TV horror host Peter Vincent (Roddy McDowall), who used to be the "Great Vampire Killer" of the movies. Can these mortals save Charley and his sweetheart Amy (Amanda Bearse) from the wrathful bloodsucker's toothy embrace? If you love being scared, FRIGHT NIGHT...will give you the nightmare of your life.

One of my favorite horror/comedy movies! One of my most anticipated Sony UHD release!

I'm so looking forward to it! I'm trying to get the LD for the audio, but it's kind of rare and expensive.

Would be nice to have the LD, Sony seems to be messing up all their Stereo tracks lately.

Yes indeed stwd4nder2! Sloppy move on their part.

But don't worry, my next LDs aquisitions will be for Fright Night and Lifeforce.

I also have some upcoming spare time in early august when I intend to do many more US x JP LD audio comparisons.

They screwed up the audio on Ghostbusters but they have more good faith than nearly any other studio from me

The audio on Heavy Metal and Labyrinth are different mixes then what's on LD, while being advertised as "original audio"

I am aware, but then how do we know they were original mixes? We mostly assume based on age

True. It would be nice if there was some comment by Sony, but I'm sure that will never happen.
Until proven otherwise I would assume the LD is the more "faithful" mix.

I've seen a few posts flying around on facebook talking about the Atmos track on Fright Night and how the song lyrics during the club scene are missing. They are present on the other tracks. No idea if the 2.0 is original or not.
