Answering to PDB's last post there: to continue with the DEFΙΠΙTΙVΔ series? I thought about it, using only UHD (or very high quality HD2UHD upscales) as source, only OAR, using the best available color reference to regrade it, and add all the best audio tracks...
Still, DEFΙΠΙTΙVΔ = definitive - but today I found an old script I decided to not use at the time, but now I think it's much better than what I ended to use:

Now, if you think the V2 is better, please vote. I'll be offline for few days from midnight (CET+2), so if I'll see some interest, I'll spend the next offline days to prepare it.

I'm really looking forward to future installments. Fantastic job as always spoRv!
For Mad Max v2, perhaps you should consider the waiting for the upcoming UHD-BD from Kino Lober. Since it will be a disc based encode, it might be the best source to use as basis.
Regarding the v1 x v2 comparison, I think the contrast is a bit too high on v2 and there seems to be too much of a red push, most noticeable on the penultimate cap. Perhaps a middle ground between v1 and current v2 sample would be ideal. But of course, it's your call!

V2 looks like the IP of Mad Max does, which is the goal. It's high contrast, popping colors, that's how Mad Max always looked on the screen. I think I saw it in 35mm over 5 times over the years. It always looked like the European DVD look.

First encoding done, the missing frame reinstated, a shot with artefacts fixed, now I have to check if it has some remaining thing to fix; still, it will be released as soon as I have a proper internet connection - few days, possibly...
But, should I wait for the UHD-BD instead?!?

I don't have a great deal of experience with Kino. Are they known for doing good jobs in terms of color grading?

The full disc specs have just been released. It's a little over 2 and a half months to go.

It will be their second shot at an UHD-BD (Hannibal was the first), and if I may quote one Maverick guy:
"- Crashed and burned on the first one. It wasn't pretty.
- And Second?
- I don't know. I'll tell you tomorrow, but it's looking good so far" 
Regarding their BD output, I'd say their biggest drawback is source related (probably having to license most of their content from MGM and other smaller companies) and sometimes not so great encode. But I wouldn't put color grading into their shortcomings list.

I prefer the V2 as well. Makes it pop a bit more. Seems to match the Feel of the movie to me as well.
