Another amazing restoration! I love the fully German credits they did those days - as a German.
If you need another source material of the original German mono soundtrack I have the 1991 WHV tape that sounds better than the DVD track. Too bad they didn't release it on Laserdisc. I'm not sure, was it on Video8 with lossless PCM? Anyway I don't have a Video8 Player and guess it's really rare.

A German Video8 does exist, but a PAL format Digital8 camcorder would be needed to capture the audio, if pre-recorded Video8 tapes aren't copy protected that is.

I decided that I will be restoring not just the 4:3 fullframe version, but also the 16:9 widescreen (as the BluRay has a higher bitrate).

For the title credits, I had to recomposite the entire sequence once again for the correct aspect ratio.

My three stabs at a guess:

1) "AMERICAN MOTOR COMPANY"...  If that's supposed to be the same company as AMC then at the very least, "MOTORS" if not full out "AMERICAN MOTORS CORPORATION"

2 ) Not being German myself, is perhaps "CARL ZEISS OF WEST GERMANY" an off way of referring to that company in end credits intended for a German audience?

3) But after all that, you probably just mean the lowercase "t" for Mt. Hood.

That's all I got! Any of those right? (Probably not )

Nah. Those are all the way they're supposed to be.

But the German line on the top has a missing "e" in "freundliche". There are actually at least two typos in the German end credits. Which I am keeping for historical accuracy.

Also, interesting fact. The German credits actually change the position of the Color Grading supervisor and add an entire additional credit not present in the English credits (Sound Editing Assistants).
