Dolby Atmos (DCP) vs Dolby Atmos (Blu-ray and UHD)
#11
I don't know how many Atmos mixes with more than active 11 speakers (excluding LFE) are around; what I can say is the cheapest amp that can manage AND amplify more than 11 speakers costs more than 3500€, not a very popular price IMHO.

Aside that, there are less than a dozen title with Italian Atmos track on BD/UHD-BD after seven years availability in home systems, while there are much more titles in German - dunno about tracks in French and Spanish...

Right.
Home acoustics are different to cinema acoustics. So mixes should be remixed for NF. TO make it sound the same, it needs to be different.

What you read on AVS may be outdated information.

NB: Home DA is not Cinema DA so any criticism about the home mixes might be N/A to the cinema mix.

Mulan 2020 uses objects uses objects

Gravity uses objs uses objs for cinema (like most movies should), but since it's an early DA title, it;s likely to be 12o for home.

This is my estimated breakdown of DA on BD, accurate to +-25% :

o = objects,
  • 12o 50%
  • 14o 25%
  • 16o 25%

Streaming is more likely to be 16o due to how DDP JOC works.

You can check obj on the Mediainfo software.

Whether something is 12o or 714 doesn't matter in practice since objects will tend to 714 locations will tend to 714 locations anyway

It's just that newer releases tend to be authored as  14o rather than 12o.

If you want foreign language DA, subscribe to streaming where foreign language DA is more common.
