Endocryne,
in my experience having analysed tons of LD, DVD, BD, UHD mixes over the time, one thing I can tell you is that mixes are almost never the same. Different levels of filtering, equalization, volume, effects, music and/or compression are the rule.

Hi BDgeek,
Did you ever get a chance to compare this LD track to the US UHD/BD's DTS 2.0 track that you examined in a previous thread? I was wondering whether this sounds better and, if so, by how much.
Thanks!

Did they transfer that new mix they did for the Platinum Edition DVD (with new sound FX) onto the BD editions?

This one?
ORIGINAL 5.1 2003 REMIX
This 5.1 DTS remix is unique to the 2003 Anniversary release.
Unlike the latter 5.1-7.1 remix issued on Blu-ray and DVD, this unique mix uses the original sound stems so all the original gun shots and sounds are intact.
The center channel is doctored and many sounds are hacked from it, while the stereo LR channels uses the M&E tracks. This gives the music a great soundstage. The LFE is just the complete film subbed, and the rears sound like just an echo-y version of the front stage. All in all, I like this version and it's way better than the crap remix that is now standard.

@ Stamper , are you just bringing this mix to our attention? If so, it sounds appealing. I might see what I can do about sourcing it.

I already synced the DTS 5.1 from the USA R1 DVD (Special Edition) plus the AC3 4.0 from the European DVD, i would like to check the enhanced DTS 5.1 from the later DVD but failed to found it, anyway, i can provide the tracks if you guys need! imo these two are better than the DTS-HD MA and DTS-X from the BD's and UHDm specially the DTS 5.1 track.
