On Monday Apple dropped Logic Pro 10.7 and it included a major feature: Create Dolby Atmos mixes.

For pros and hobbiest this is huge, as the feature comes at no extra costs. If you know how to mix a 5.1 mix, then moving to Dolby Atmos wont be hard. You can mix up to 7.1.4. Though I couldn't find an option to export to Dolby TrueHD. At this point you export to something that works with Apple Music and probably Apple TV. But it might be also a lossless version that you need the official Dolby Encoder for. Only time will tell if you can go full fledged movie mixes in Dolby Atmos. I don't see a reason why you shouldn't Wink

Does Atmos on apple music use E-AC-3 or some proprietary format? If there's no way to properly export it to something that can by muxed with video, it's nice but ultimately useless.
I wonder if this is some limitation imposed by Dolby specifically so you can't use it for mixing movies.

Indeed; if you can't export to TrueHD, or at very least Dolby Digital Plus (even if the latter is not the best option), there is little use for "us"! Wink

Definitely consumer since you can only do 7.1.4

Problem is, what to do with 11ch (or 12) WAV file?
Dunno if there are some players that can accept it; even if so, you do need a 11 (12) channel compatible audio card...

More investigations are needed! Smile

No. This is real Dolby Atmos.

Dolby Atmos as PCM is usable with the Apple TV box. I don't have one, so I can't test how you can use it.
