Auweia… it’s to much to do that. I knew it that you did so because I did similar but at least better than nothing.

Here's a very brief preview to show where I'm up to and give an idea of colours (nowhere near the final article though)

Just to say I've finished the Lut work now but may go back and redo some of the earlier brighter scenes as the grain seems too pronounced (maybe needs a bit more smoothing in the Dre tool?)
Rendering out a test now and will give it watch on the big screen later to see what it looks like. Either way hopefully not too for from finished now. Thanks given by: stwd4nder2 , CSchmidlapp , PDB

Ok, so finished redoing some of the earlier scenes and rendering out a new version. Going to check it over the weekend but if anyone would like to help out and give it a watch, please drop me a PM.

Ok so ended up working through quite a few errors I spotted and rendering out a new file now. Hoping a few people could help with testing so will get a Resilio link sorted. Let me know if you'd like to assist.
One question, I'm using 22 CRF for this 2160p SDR file and it looks like the file will be around 75gb which seems a bit on the large side. Does anyone know what setting would be safe to use that would avoid any compression issues? The original file (including HDR) was around 70gb. But if 22 CRF is best I'm happy to stick with that.

CRF would seem to be universal but different encoders give slightly different results. Are you using x265 or something else? Thanks given by: alexp2000

Thanks PDB. Using x265 - I read that you can go higher than 264 in terms of CRF and that 22 should be more than enough in terms of quality. Just wondering if anyone had tried a slightly higher number and whether I could get away with a smaller file size, not really an issue if not.

If you're looking for simple 'set and forget' encoder settings, then lower is always better.
There's not a universal 'best' settings for these things. Video encoding is a very complicated beast, and there's a reason why large studios with big budgets fuck it up all the time. And the companies who are really good it like FiM put a lot of effort into tailoring settings to specific films. Thanks given by: alexp2000 , ActWatchBD
