The most egregious audio remixes

by all accounts this was the original sound engineer who made the changes. It was reported that they were rushed during the final sound mix and added in a load of older stock SFX that they were never happy with so when it came to doing the Atmos mix, they went in changed it.

Fully understand them doing that but WB should of had the original mix on there anyway and give us the choice.

They weren't happy with the final mix but waited 30 years to update it? Why not fix it for the first LD, or the initial 5.1 DVD release if it's burning such a hole in the pit of your heart?
Anyway my own personal vote goes to the AAWIL remix for the Universal DVD, it's so crushingly bad it ruins the film for me

Count me as also skeptical that anyone from the original production of Batman was involved in the Atmos remix. Batman Returns also got the same revisionist Atmos remix treatment, but I don't believe anyone ever claimed its original sound mix was rushed like the first film.

Other terrible, heavily changed Atmos remixes from WB:

Blade Runner
Mad Max 2
Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome

Thankfully the Mad Maxes had second pressings with the original stereo and old 5.1 mixes included in lossless, but unfortunately Blade Runner is stuck on 4K with the new inferior remix only.

It's only on a drama CD but the stereo remix of Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind sounds really weird.
The dialogue and sound effects are still clearly mono with some weird stereo-ification filter (syncing the Drama CD to the movie reveals that the stereo panning for the SFX/dialogue often does not match the screen), but the score sounds glorious in stereo.
But here's the weird part, some music cues are added or changed from the original mix.

There were rumours that the 2003 DVD release in Japan was going to contain a stereo remix in addition to the original mono mix. But it ultimately only released with a mono mix.
The Blu-rays all contain the same mono mix.

The 2004 remixes of the mono James Bond films by MiCasa stduos first released on the 2006 UE DVDs and ported as the default track ever since to my horror.
Every LEone film remix, with the 2003 MGM mix of GBU being the most obvious, in addition to all the remixes and terrible audio prentations of the other films. Duck You Sucker suffers terribly as the MGM cut audio has censoired dialogue and incorrect music cues.
Every Star Wars remix from the 2004 botched 5.1 EX remixes to the latest remix on the 4K master
The horrid BD remix of Raiders and the slightly tamed and tweaked Atmos remix of the BD remix on the UHD
To a lesser degree the remix on the BDs and UHDs on Temple and Crusade which have never sounded as potent as the LD 2.0 matrix
Jaws remixes
The new Batman 4k master remixed audio on all four films
Mission Impossible everything after the LD mixes out the bass

I can go on and on and on....

Oh really? I just watched them recently. What did they do to them?

What the f...!!! The sound effects of Batman are an integral part of the experience. F*** this remix! Hopefull all the previous tracks included with the 4k (5.1 English and all the 2.0 dubs) are untouched(?)
AKA thxita on OriginalTrilogy
I preserve movies as they first appeared in Italy.

Unfortunately no, the English 5.1 on the 4K is just a downmix of the Atmos remix. The dubs are untouched, yes.

Panda! Go, Panda!'s stereo remix is so hilariously awful, that it actually sounds noisier and more muffled than the original mono mix.
Yes, the stereo remix sounds much more aged and in poorer condition than the original mono mix.
