I dont know, I didn't do the sound mix, and it didn't bother me so why the need to change it?

This comes back to the same philosophical argument as whether capturing bit perfect is really necessary. For listening, no, in general it's not. But the folks here are trying to save classic sound mixes. By doing bit perfect captures you are preserving what's on the disc without introducing your own artifacts and alterations, which I think everyone can agree is a good thing.

You didn’t really just point to the removal of a DC offset hum as a gotcha, did you? Your subwoofer can’t even reproduce that tone. And if it could you wouldn’t be able to hear it. It would probably just turn your foundation to dust.

For instance, using a de-clicker or pop reduction can essentially do DNR on sections of audio with real noise like heavy rainfall. Unless you are willing to go through the whole thing with a fine toothed comb why mess with it? Anyone will agree spot fixing here and there is perfectly acceptable.

I never use declicking or declipping on a whole track, only spot fixing. And as for why? Because I can. My process for processing audio tracks started way before I ever got here, before I had ever synced a single LD track, and I have no interest in changing how I do things.

That’s fair, but this is also the first time I’ve gotten into an argument of any kind on here, which is what I’ve been avoiding.

The preview is also limited to music only which is often the parts of a track with DNR that I find harder to hear differences in.

I chose the music as that’s the part I found to sound the most different. The dialogue has the same improvement in high end, but it’s not nearly as noticeable as it is with the music. Other than that, the dialogue almost sounds identical. I didn’t notice much, if any DNR.
