My pleasure, guys.
It's times like these I'm glad I haven't sold off some of my cool stuff to make a quick buck. Back in 93 my brother was working at a home theater dealer for the summer; that's when he got this LD. We loved watching it on our parent's home theater for many years but it's been relegated to my storage area for the past 15 years.
Capturing the audio was an easy task. I have the equipment to capture video as well but I haven't gotten around to doing any captures. This will be a great excuse for me to learn how to do this. About a year ago PDB gave me some pointers to get me started but I've since forgotten. I'll have to find that email.
I have the following equipment at my disposal:
McIntosh MLD7020 LD player
Blackmagic Design Intensity Shuttle Thunderbolt
Macbook Pro (mid-2012 'non-retina' model; 2.9GHz Dual-core Intel Core i7; 8GB 1600MHz DDR3 SDRAM; 1TB Serial ATA Drive @ 5400 rpm)
I know I'm limited by the speed of my HDD so let me know which video capture format you'd like me to use.
Found PDB's message and I just realized i promised him a review of the BM Intensity back in January! How embarrassing. If you're reading this, better late than never, PDB?
Here are the results of my disk speed test:

For Mac I'd use Prores and NTSC. Its not lossless but its the next best thing and super easy to edit if need be. Looks like there is an option for quicktime uncompressed (8bit and 10 bit). You can do that and it might yield some more better result but I doubt being composite analog video. It also requires a lot of hard drive space (not to mention fast HDDs). I would stick with Prores but that's just me.

Ha, I had forgotten myself so no worries Lil Brutto but if you are still willing to review it, I love to read it.
Strange even with a traditional 5400 HDD, I would think you would be able to do 720p/1080p 24fps. I know 60fps would be pushing it but 24 isn't that much especially at 720p.

Anyone have an issue using tsMuxer to put this together?
It won't for the life of it recognise the LD audio.wav
Weird. Tried downloading it twice.

Edit Reason: typos, LOL
)
Yeah, a 1080p reconstruction would be pretty cool but time consuming (and HDD, LOL) and I won't be undertaking that project. I will upload the 360p youtube video synced to LD in a little while (gotta free up space on cloud first)
@ Lil Brutto - again, thanx for sharing the audio and no rush on the video

tsMuxer might have a problem with the wav files. You have to do a bit of conversion in Eac3to.

Okay thanks I'll I'll give that a try!
Last WAV file worked ok, but this one may need a little conversion as you suggest.

Well, I suspect the reason it doesn't want to work is the fact that the audio is NOT synced to anything at the moment, especially the youtube source. I'm in the process of syncing it to a 480p rip that I found on dailymotion. Much better quality than the crappy 360p (it's actually 640x306) youtube source. Not only is it a higher resolution, but it's also at a higher bitrate and is properly de-interlaced, whereas the youtube source is blended to hell.
Give me another 2-3 hours and I will have a "proper" version available of the LD video muxed with the LD audio that Lil Brutto supplied. Am working on that and, actually, an HD reconstruction as well
Once done, I'm wondering if I want to share it here via MEGA links, or just make it available on MS... Thoughts??

For years I was considering doing the project. I have the sources at hand...
Premiere HD Capture of the Original Star Wars Movies
Blu-ray Version of the Original Star Wars Movies, Indiana Jones Movies and Willow
THX WOW LD - I just need to capture it
THX WOW DVD - I just need to rip it
But I never started the project. Maybe I'll do it

Well, the original trilogy blurays will be useless here and you might want to use Harmy's de-specialized editions. If you look at the original Laserdisc footage, you'll understand why. On that note, I have noticed while making the HD reconstruction, that the color-timing is different, so are the brightness/contrast levels and the fact that to make a true HD reconstruction of the original LD WOW! footage, you won't be able to use the BD footage due to the "specialized" alterations. For now, I'm making a "hybrid" that uses mostly BD footage (as I have easy access to it) and some LD footage that I happen to have on one of the HDDs that are plugged in. (I have Harmy's de-specialized editions too but they are on a HDD that I have in storage, outside the house)
I upscaled the LD capture I found on dailymotion, using SuperResolution, to 720p and overlayed a real 35mm grain plate onto it. Granted, this could look better once I have a direct "raw" copy of the laserdisc footage, but this is still a good start and looks surprisingly good. I, also, ivtc'ed the footage and fixed the AR, as it's slightly off in comparison to any of the BD footage. The only thing I need to figure out is the "THX" logo and overlaying it properly onto the "true HD" footage in the reconstruction I making from mostly BD sources.
As far as muxing the LD PCM using tsMixer, this will not be a problem. I have always been able to mux PCM(wav) tracks, as long as the audio track is properly synced to the video track

That's awesome guys! Even if you leave the THX overlay off i think it would still work just fine. As a matter of fact, i think there should be a version without the overlay in the corner. Easy enough once it's all together. I'm sure if taas007 chimed in, he would laugh about how easy it is to create the THX graphic and drop it on the video. I wish new how to do that stuff, i'm sure i could learn if i sat down and spent some time.
Your right Jerry, about the tsMuxer and having a problem only if it's not in sync with the video. I use tsMuxer all the time with virtually no problems.
