So, only the theatrical mixes could be used more easily with all five films from the various reseources, instead of being completely rude and arrogant about it.
I'm going to repeat again, I'm completely ignoring the 5.1 remixes from any and all releases. Are you able to prove Mono [Fold Down from 5.1 Mix] for the USA BDs without owning said discs https://fanrestore.com/thread-5824-post-...l#pid95500 from this post or are you repeating information which you've read on here and other websites? Which NTSC, not PAL, DVD best reflects the mono track? The one released in 2000 or 2006 or just use both for the majority of POTA Pentalogy remuxes?
I simply did my research from:
A: Fanres (or Fanrestore) [Basic Knowledge]
B: Listening back and forth between the tracks from various home video mixes. [as per Fanres' words]
C: Using notepad to rank and categorize the mixes in different channels and raise them high or low on the rankings, whenever they sounded when presented.
Ergo, I didn't repeat the info from other websites (as you mentioned).
All I was hoping was that someone on this forum own these LDs/DVDs (if not just BDs) in question, to see if my listening experience was accurate (as per my ["UNHELPFUL" as you refer] personal Audio repository report)
Lets take this step by step (focusing on the Mono Mixes, in case you like an optimal sounding stereo section on the next to them).
Planet of the Apes (1968)
Optimal Mono Mix: 1993 PFC Vidéo FR [1054-35] [PCM 1.0 Mono (Digital)]
Beneath the Planet of the Apes (1970)
Optimal Mono Mix: 1983 CBS/Fox Video UK LD [1013-70] (PCM 2.0 Mono)
Escape from the Planet of the Apes (1971)
Optimal Mix (Original Foley FX): 2008 Fox Home Entertainment BD [DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1/Dolby Digital 2.0 Mono]
I checked both the 1991 Fox Video "SWE" LD (PCM 2.0 Stereo) and the 2000 Fox Home Entertainment DVD (Dolby Digital 2.0 Mono) and to my ears they sounded like new foley (fx. some modern helicopter fly-by Foley in the beginning of the film's main titles) rather than using the OG mix (as the 2008 BD's 5.1 and Mono mixes did). If you own either editions, please let me know if I'm inaccurate or not.
Conquest of the Planet of the Apes (1972)
Optimal Mixes: 2008 Fox Home Entertainment BD [DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1/Dolby Digital 2.0 Mono]
I wasn't able to listen to the 1983 CBS/Fox Video UK LD [PG-Rated Theatrical Version], BTW.
I haven't been able to check "Battle for the Planet of the Apes" (1973) yet but I hope to do so, one day if I have enough funds.
So, which audio mix is the most optimal for "BFTPOTA" '73
Pre-1990 VHS/LD Mixes?
1999 THX LD?
2008 BD?
To get things straight:
- Are the 2006 DVD Mono mixes identical to the 2008 BD Monos?
- Are some of the 2000 DVD Stereos coming from the Pre-Release Stereo (if not 1990s Chace Stereo Mixes)?
- If the audio source for both channel options on a title are identical, then please help me out and let me know if it is a downmix or not, in case I don't want to make the person upset of being mislead by me or anything.
Do I have to do more research than this?
Thank you :-)
