[Help] Superman IV - The Quest for Peace - Japanese Laserdisc
#1
Hi!

I am currently working on a Superman IV restoration of the original workprint.

I have restored several deleted scenes that are in poor condition, removing the dust, scratches…

But I cannot restore the tornado and the missile scenes because they have missing effects.

Does anyone know where to get the laserdisc rip of Superman IV?

Thanks and best regards,

Fuinki

if you can't find a rip of it then i'd suggest getting it digitised yourself (in the best way possible)

the laserdisc is on sale here for $25 without the obi and $55 with - https://www.lddb.com/laserdisc/shop/2794...-for-Peace
it's also pretty common on ebay/other sites so you may be able to get it cheaper there (try the english and japanese title with LD/laserdisc to find more results)

then you can ship it to someone with a laserdisc player and domesday board and they could get it digitised for you. if you don't know anyone then you could kindly ask someone in the domesday86 discord and maybe you'll get helped out, maybe for free (+shipping) if you get lucky or a small fee

the corresponding file will most likely be 130-160GB and you'll need a decent computer to decode it (it'll still be really slow on high end hardware) from the raw RF file to something you can work with, it requires a little technical knowledge and linux. the github and discord is a great place and there's also youtube videos on the process.

if you do end up going this route and you have a decent enough internet connection, upload the .ldf file to the internet archive! it'll be slow and tedious but people will appreciate it

Hi!

Yes, I think that it is the best way. I have already thought about buying it and trying to digitise it by myself.

Thank you for taking the time on the explanation and the process and the guidance, means a lot.

And of course, when I get the .ldf file I will upload it to the internet archive.
