I'll post some audio sample later on since I truthfully don't know the source of the problem myself. I'm only guessing at this stage. I wouldn't qualify myself as an expert in this field. I still have a hunch that lowering the volume may not eliminate this static that I'm hearing.

Who here is much of an audio and software expert?? Anyone willing to hear the samples, once I get them, cause I don't wanna just post them upfront.

I'm curious to hear this buzz. Do you have any other VCR that you can test anyway? Might be a problem with its soundboard

Unlikely that's the problem but as I said I'm no expert. I did in fact test Roxio on another VCR 2-3 months ago and it did the same thing. I was testing my VIDBOX thing the other day and aside from being a bit loud didn't have this noise. I'll try to get the samples ready hopefully before the end of the week.

For "not being an expert" you dismiss sugestions from people having some experience with videoripping quiete easy as "unlikely possible", or "no, that is not possible" without even trying it, or evolving the sugessted solution to try...
Seems as if you are enough an expert to know enough that you need no dismissable help.

Well, sorry, I can only reiterate the techniques I've tried and report back what was or wasn't present. The last suggestion of testing another VCR for example as I said I've tried so what am suppose to do? Try it again? Most of the stuff I've dismissed are stuff I either did in fact try or have tried already. At least let me post the samples I speak of before being questioned on my knowledge of the matter.

And just to assure everyone that I am in fact listening to your suggestions, here's a screen grab of both Pinnacle Studios and the Volume Mixer opened.

To test this theory, I lowered the setting for Pinnacle to zero (ie no sound), recorded a short video, played it back. The exported video had sound. So unless this was what you were referring to Mr.Brown a few posts back about lowering the volume, I don't know what you're talking about.

Uhm... That is the wrong windows audio setting. I was referring to the Input device setting... you changed the software Output setting.
Edit: I have no Input device at this PC, and my PC is stted in German, so It is at the moment impossible to make some screenshots how to change the Input Audio. But no wonder, you had the same recording volume, when just changing the speaker volume for your software. First of all: If I use the word "device" I think of the actual hardware device. When you right-click on the Windows Loudspeaker, you normally click to Change the settingy, you can jump to the recording devices. Choose your Input Device, you are recording from, and then, I think the "Configure" button, then there is somewhere a Level adjustment setting. As I said: I have no active devices at this PC, so I kind of guess now... Edit 2: Here a How to shows how to change to microphone as default recording device (so "input" was my wrong wording, it is called recording  ):http://blogs.creighton.edu/bluecast/tips...windows-7/ and they change the recording Volume...

Ok I found what you're talking about although I had to do some searching to find it (The sound icon wasn't in the pop up window on my screen like it showed in the link you posted). I'll do some messing with it and report back. What concerns me is I checked the setting for Dazzle and volume was at 49 yet I checked the level of my VIDBOX capture, which doesnt record the static I mentioned, and it was at 69.

Different Recording Device (Hardware) seem to have different quality.
Also the volume also depends on the playing device, and the Tape/LD. I have a LD, where I needed to reduce the input Level to 40%, so the recorded maximum was at about -3db, while another LD was recorded with setting10 0%, and no clipping at maximum peak of the Audio, because it was someway low volume mastered. But Samples would be great, maybe we misunderstood you, regarding your problem, and searching solutions in the wrong direction.
