Viability of cheap VHS capture
That wasn’t a Vdub capture but I do recall Vdub giving me the same effect. Part of the reason I was using programs like PowerDirector and Roxio was it did not give that effect. I tried another program too that I can’t remember the name off and it didn’t give that effect but it did reencode the video which I also try to avoid.

So basically in regards to stuff like this I try to avoid free programs as much as possible. In the past year the only movie I was able to capture on a few occasions without any glitches was that Phantom of the Opera tape. My two best captures of that were a Hauppauge WinTV device from 2008 and a combo of 2016 Dazzle and 2008 VIDBOX. Both I captured through Roxio Creator NXT. The WinTV capture I’ve watched straight through and didn’t notice any glitches. The Dazzle/VIDBOX capture I haven’t watched straight through but what I have seen of it it looked fine. So its very confusing. It could a number of things. The devices, the TBC, the computer, all the above. Who knows. I’ll try a DV capture through Roxio tonight and see how that goes. Also someone suggested I have other programs/browsers closed when doing this I do that. I push record and basically do nothing else until the tape is over.

Slightly off topic but it is good to hear from you again Jerry! Wink

criss ... if you'd like I'll get some screen caps from my "Creature From The Black Lagoon" from that series to show you at least the picture I get from my set up. If you're going to use Vdub, Huffy Lossless is the best one to capture in, so then you can take it to mpeg2 afterwards for disc.

That’d be cool. Thank you! Presently I’m recording something. For this recording Im using the 2008 VIDBOX through Roxio Creator NXT 4 set to DV (AVI).

Ok scratch that. Ton of audio issues on that capture. Anyways I've downloaded and installed Vdub and also downloaded the folder for Huffyuv. Questions is how the hell do I install the latter?? The setup thing says this.

However, all thats in the folder is this unless I'm reading all this wrong.

Honestly, I don't remember HOW I installed it on my new Windows 10 PC - bought one year ago.

IIRC, I just downloaded the file from the web, and installed it; after that, VirtualDub recognized it.

I’ll check it again later. Kinda multitasking today. Gonna try to get you that RoboCop audio today! Wink

I'm not sure what to tell you there. I installed all of my codecs using the K-Lite codec package [(FULL version) it's free and can be googled] and vdub recognized everything automatically... Never tried installing it on it's own... sorry, but maybe the codec pack could help... Wink
