I don't have the video captured at the moment, but I can get it done soon.

IcePrick was kind enough to get me the complete LD audio and video so I'm syncing them right now. I noticed this in the diner scene on the Blu Ray about halfway through the movie:

Is that negative damage? It seems to be on the LD and VHS as well. Should I clean it up? It would frankly be trivial to do, but if it's "supposed" to be there I don't want to mess it up for anyone.

If its on all three Id just leave it. I cant really tell since you have the image cropped but if this is a shot where the Coca-Cola logos had to be blurred this may be a 'smudge' as a result of the effects of that.

No, it's not that at all, just damage on a single frame of the movie.

Mj0012, how does the Dutch LD audio compare to the VHS capture? And regarding the blurred logos, is there any good source of the unaltered footage that can be used to restore them?

According to the commentary track, they did some digital tweaking, (removing a mike boom reflection or something when Danny and Sandy are standing in front of the jukebox, re compositing the split screen at the end of Summer Nights) so you'd think they would have tried fixing the hideous optical blurring of the Coke signs.

The movie is always going to have the glitches and warts of a 1970's production though.

That it appears over the late Jeff Conaway's face is a little creepy! Shocked

The blurring was done before the movie was released in 1978, and the unblurred footage is allegedly lost now. Even the deleted scenes on the DVD/Blu ray come from a black and white workprint.

How hard would it be to make a simple menu screen with the audio options, (VHS & LD) and preservation credits?

The audio is nice, the bass is cleaner and tighter than the VHS and the midrange doesn't suffer from the same muddiness as the VHS. And the pitch is spot on after slowing down the audio, no electronic adjustments that I noticed.

It would be pretty easy, I'm just authoring the disc in Adobe Encore.
