Any status on this?? Was just watching the Grease Live special from a few months ago and reminded me about this project.

Not sure how I missed this. I was just looking for my Beta copy of Grease to try to sync to the blu-ray. Any update on this? Also, does anyone know the name of the Coke sign that's blurred out? It's completely revisionist but I SO want to try to HARMY it into the film. That never bothered me until someone actually pointed it out...

The Coke sign(s) was/were actually always blurred.

I know this... I mean I never noticed it before in all my viewings and now that I can't help but notice it, I would like to try to make it visible just for the heck of it. That's what I meant by revisionist. If I could add it back in, I would effectively be pulling a George Lucas but it would be a fun exercise. The blur job (say that five times fast) was so poorly done.

Oh, Chris found the thread already. Wink

I suppose if one could find Coke signage identical to what was on the set, it could be done? There *might* be stills out there without the blurring.

TServc2049 told me someone over at OT finally got their hands on the elusive Japanese digital sound LD. Don't know if it's been ripped yet, or if it will sound identical to IcePrick's PAL capture. The more soundtrack options the merrier?

I agree- the more the merrier. I watched this so many times as a kid - I would stay at my grandma's if it was airing on HBO. Ashamed to say, my wife refuses to watch with me because I dont just sing along, I TALK along with all the dialog. It's pretty bad for a 44 year old I know. Anyway, as soon as I saw this on LD for the re-release, I knew it sounded all wrong.

Apparently unblurred frames do exist, but the source of these is unclear.
