"Spider-Man: Brand New Day". I just watched it in 1.90:1 digital IMAX aspect ratio videoprojected and... well, it’s just barely watchable. A dozen of pretty good looking shots in a 2h19 minutes span, including a nice 180° reverse shot with Spidey going on a ceiling, but all the action falls flat with no epicness in the editing and especially the music. On top of that, the script is mediocre, recycling some Raimi's tropes from "Spider-Man 2", but there's no real antagonist, hence no final stand-off. I haven’t seen every Marvel entry in between, but according to my research, I didn't miss anything significant and was as confused as everybody else seeing Spidey interacting with Punisher and new Black Widow, plus the arrest of the Hand ninjas that never happened on screen. So basically, half confusing, half boring, a mildly interesting intrigue at the beginning with the possessed bodies that only serves as an introduction of the X-Men via Jean Grey. Meh... And that's enough for the general audience worldwide to reach a 2.5 billion dollars box-office? No wonder we can’t have nice things anymore.
