Does anyone have a copy of The Thomas Crown Affair (1968)?

Michel Legrand's score sounds awful on the Blu-ray, as you can hear. :-(

Wow. What a difference. I always assumed that these lossless BD audio tracks would be on a par with the LD tracks but obviously that's not the case.

If anything you should always assume the LD sounds better. There's cases where they're on par, and rare times where the BD sounds better, but there's almost always some kind of NR or DR compression applied to modern releases.

Did this ever happen?

The UHD looks great, but being early Sony it's Atmos only.

Need my original stereo fix. Big Grin

Does anyone have Sam Peckinpah's The getaway LD? It would be nice to replace the BD audio, just 192 kbps (dolby digital).

Effectively, that depends almost only on what source has been used (DTS' marketing name "Master Audio" for their lossless variant being highly misleading) as on a technical level, given halfway decent bitrates, no sound format will create such differences, neither AC3 nor DTS on e.g. DVDs. Thus, I'd always go for the better source, no matter in which shape (AC3, DTS, PCM) or media (LD, Cinema DTS CD, DVD, BD, UHD) it comes.

The Outsiders should be finished soon, a lot of others still to work through - might do Fargo next I think.
