Yes please!

Starting on it this evening, might take a while though haha

Is there something up with the PULP FICTION audio on Blu-ray/DVD? I nearly got that on LD but figured it was likely mixed in Dolby Digital 5.1 anyway based on release date and IMDb, mostly. That said, it could well have been remixed for modern releases. If it is different, it's one I'm definitely up for doing.

pipefan413,

even for many movies with original multichannel mixes, the LD PCM still sounds better. That's specially true for early 5.1 titles from Warner and more front heavy mixes (usally dramas and comedies).

That said, Pulp Ficion DTS LD is definitvely on my radar, but I believe I can get you the Criterion LD PCM capture.

IMO, one movie that we've discussed before and for me fits this category of early 5.1 loosing for LD PCM is Terminator 2. Heck even for Broken Arrow, one of the best DTS LDs on the market, the PCM still gives it a run for it's money.

ps: Broken Arrow tracks courtesy of CSchmidlapp and zoiberg.

Sure, I get that, I was just meaning: is the 5.1 mix on Blu-ray etc. basically equivalent to the earlier 5.1 from the Pulp Fiction LDs or is it a remix?

I haven't yet compared T2's Dolby Surround PCM to the 5.1 DTS but it's interesting that you reckon the PCM is better.

I don't have the Pulp Fiction 5.1 from the DVD, but if you can provide it, I can compare it to the BD track.

But from my experience, I've been comparing a lot of 5.1 tracks on US LD x JP LD x DVD x BD x UHD-BD and they are rarely ever the same. Even after normalization, levels very across channel (probably due to re-eq) and there's usually a matter of different frequencies filtering / crossover levels.

Heck even on Sony's "original" 5.1 DTS-HD Ma tracks on their UHDs are often different then their BD counterpart. So go figure. I guess the best approach is to include everything on projects/remuxes

Don't suppose anyone has Turbulence on LD and can capture the audio? Would like to see how it compares to the DVD.

Anyone got Blue Velvet's 2.0 surround track from Warner's original LD? I want to sync it with the Criterion.

Apparently the original 99 DVD mono sounds the best. I ripped and sent it to Sertoli for syncing, in case you'd wanna check it out when it's done.
