And how does one "verifies" a file? What does it take to do so?

In your torrent client, just "verify" it - it checks the file, comparing it with the seeded one, to see if there are discrepancies.

UPDATES:
Thanks to the following members: Jetrell Fo for the Cinema DTS BigRob for the DVD DTS-ES 6.1 Beber for the French and subs tracks Now I need the German track - preferably DTS, but a "mere" AC-3 will do! Beber suggested the idea of removing hard subs (as I did with HP8), so to get single forced subs (possibly using the same, or close, fonts and placement) and avoid double fonts. There is an 1HD HDTV cap, open matte (with similar grading, cropped only on shots withous subs, it seems) that has not hard subs; it will be used for that.

Actually, for placement, I'd put them way lower. If they are so high in the frame, that's because we should not see the lower part of it as it is supposed to be a 2.35:1 movie.

They were intended for letterbox version, indeed, so maybe you are right. As I want to add a YAO track - that would add black bars around 60px tick top, and 200px bottom, to obtain similar framing to letterbox version, those would be included in the bottom bar - so, I have to make various YAO tracks, for any language...
Oh, yeah, that YAO stuff... I'm not too fond of this thing. It only emulates the 2.35:1 framing by keeping the middle part of the shots, but the actual 2.35:1 framing would vary from shot to shot, some would be showing more above, some others more below, etc. Plus the YAO thing is unstable on my Zappiti player.

Well, see it as a plus!

I'll end up doing a *.mkv remux dropping all the stuff I don't care about anyway, so don't take my opinion on this thing as the one to follow.

This sounds like a great project!
I've always looked at that film and seen such differences in the Open Matte LD I had for years, and the DVD that eventually came along. Recently I saw the HD version on TV and it seemed like a nice compromise between the two. I am ALWAYS for the directors original intent, but Super 35 open matte just intrigues me.. it has since the LD days. Glad to see its possible to put together this type of project!! |
