Why do you say that Colson, your sync works perfectly well at the correct 23.976fps as per Criterion laserdisc. Why mess with audio. I slowed down video using eac3to, slowed subs using bdsup2sub and it plays perfectly with your sync.
"Why mess with audio"
Why mess with video? You're changing one or the other imperceptibly. It isn't that the prior sync wouldn't work, but saying 23.976fps is "correct" isn't really accurate. That frame rate is a video standard, not a shooting standard. 24fps is the correct framerate as the film was shot. Back when the LD was done, we were bound by that standard. UHD doesn't have that limitation. It's six of one, half a dozen of the other on whether people prefer to mess with the mono track alone or every *other* track on the Scream Factory disc, plus readjust the framerate. I simply chose the former.

May try your way Croweyes and see how it goes but as I have done this with all 24fps transfers in the past may stick with the 23.976fps version as that was what was drummed into me by previous participants.

It really comes down to watching the film imperceptibly too slow or hearing the audio imperceptibly too fast. Either is fine, as imperceptible would suggest. My sync is just easier for folks who would rather be able to mux it in and be done with it rather than do all of the extra work that you did (it just really isn't necessary TBH, and for those who want to keep the other tracks, it saves them the effort of slowing all of them down as well). But if you're technically proficient and simply prefer 23.976, go for it. I won't judge - it's not like you prefer PAL speed-up or something. lol

Well, I bet nobody can say if a movie is 23.976fps or 24fps by audio or video, as the difference is only 0.1%.
What someone can spot, though, is a 23.976-to-24 conversion glitch - if any, and if detectable in practice - while there are no contraindications playing a 24fps movie at 23.976fps - apart "ethical" ones.

Yep. No problems doing it either way in practice so long as the disc is done correctly, which it is in this case. Thanks a ton, btw, for your TFC version of Halloween. It was/is fantastic, and was my basis for the “revised extended cut” on the spleen (which will remain my go-to version of the film when I want to watch it with the TV scenes intact). Amazing work.

@ spoRv how do you feel that the new 4K Shout compares to your Fundamental Collection grade?
From my point of view, I'm still waiting for that Criterion LD-based regrade Ever since you've posted screenshots of that on originaltrilogy (many Halloweens ago), I've thought that looked the best.

My two cents, it's a terrific compromise between the last 4K release and the FC / 1999 regrade. I like it quite a lot.

Hello everyone, first post on this site as I just discovered it. I was hoping to be able to download the Shout Factory synced LD audio, but can't seem to send a PM to Colson. Not sure if it has to do with me just creating an account or what I would need to do in order to get the link. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advanced!
Edit: Thanks to stwd4nder2 for sending a PM of the forum rules of posting first before being able to send a PM, didn't think to check the rules first. They provided the link though, which I'm thankful for!
