Crocodile.Dundee.1986.The.Encore.Cut.Patched.2160p.HDR10.HEVC.PCM.2.0.v1.0

Long story short, there was a new Crocodile Dundee UHD just released, called The Encore Cut. It's a new scan with different colors and different framing. While the scan looks good, some parts of the film were removed. You can read more on the Wiki:

I not going discuss the politics of the removal but for those who want the full US cut, I took the US Web-DL and regraded and patched the missing parts including the original title card and the Paramount logo into the Encore Cut's video.

Finally, the original Encore UHD is in SDR so I gave it a 2020/HDR10 grade.

For the audio, I plugged in the Web's DTS MA soundtrack, which I assume comes from the BD. I took the Encore UHD PCM track and patched the missing parts from the LD. Finally, I synced P&S LD's PCM soundtrack and decoded it to a 5.1 track for the discrete fans. I tried to include all these tracks because they do sound different...some are echo-y, some have NR applied, etc. There also seems to be some foley objects missing or with different timing when comparing the LD to the UHD BD.

So there was a 4K of the US theatrical cut already, you mean? I didn't even know that. I thought the 4K master was Retroactive Cancel Culture Woke BS Encore Cut only.

Does the P&S LD sound better than the WS LD?

P.S. Any plans to do a 1080p Project of the Australian Cut?

Yeah came out last year or year before maybe. Looking forward to comparing the two, the web-DL definitely had some over the top degraining.

Agree, alot of degraining on 4k web. Thats why mb89 used old blu-ray master instead for his 1080p extended fanedit.

I see the encore cut does add some footage. Is any of that from the original Australian cut? Would be nice if we could construct that with less SD footage then what we have now.

It seems to be a different scan. It has different cropping, framing and color timing. Although I do like the warm of the new scan for the Outback, it feels like a modernization rather than vintage colors.

The Encore is better in my opinion. Hence this project. Although, I will say, I like the cropping and colors of the Web better.

I still find it odd that a modern scan would be rendered in SDR. Baffles the mind.

Don't know since I don't have access to the WS LD at the moment. I didn't do a extensive comparison but I came away thinking the P&S PCM sounds the best in this project since it seemed like it had the least NR.

I know that the Aussie cut exists but am in no way knowledge about the different cuts. I would have to get a copy of Aussie DVD and test how well it upscales.

Its a little footage from the party scene. Seems like an alt take to pad out the film after the removal of other scenes.

Looks like the same scan reframed with less processing.
Shame the US changes are there still, it was a chance for the US cut to vanish

I agree I like the warmth for the outback too, but those city sequences don't look write at all with the warmer timing. Those work way better with the cooler timing. If I were making my own version, I'd leave all the outback/australia sequences warm and make all the city stuff cooler. It would create a nice juxtaposition imo.
